I'l go monday.

There is mostley a shop from shop at home a shop from lego were you could buy lego for 8 eurocent a gram (looks like nothing, but it will be expensive if you get more than a handfull bricks. There is a big Intertoys store were they sell all normal sets from this year with 10% off (but it is sometimes still the shop@home prize) and there are 2nd hand sellers.

I found pics of the first day here Link

have fun! :classic:

I'll be there tomorrow as well. My dad is coming along too, just for fun.

Maybe I'll see some of you guys there!

I think I'll bring my sigfig too.

I went today, along with my dad. After a long train journey, we finally arrived at the IJsselhallen in Zwolle...

My sigfig on his way to Zwolle!

There was plenty of cool stuff to see, from massive train layouts to giant LEGO sculptures - and everything in between.

They had an area entirely devoted to the LEGO Games, where you could actually play some of them. We ended up playing a game of Minotaur (just the basic rules). It was okay, but the novelty of playing a board game with LEGO wore off pretty quickly. Maybe the other games are better.

The Taj Mahal set expanded.

The arrival of Sinterklaas. The boat moves. Awesome.

Paleis Soestdijk.

The coolest stuff came at the Designer stand. They had the Diagon Alley set laid out (it was also laid out in a different configuration at the Harry Potter area). It looked pretty cool (I didn't get any pictures - the set has already been well documented in publicity stills).

At the stand, I had a chance to talk to Jamie Berard at the Designer stand, which was pretty cool. Of course I couldn't resist asking if we were going to see any more modular buildings. Berard replied with a firm "we're not allowed to talk about what's coming," but he did mention that as long as the modulars are selling well, LEGO intents to release more of them. "And they seem to be selling well." It's as diplomatic an answer as you're going to get, but the fact that people are still buying these sets gives hope for the future.

I asked about how the Fire Brigade came about. I was wondering about it, because the inclusion of a vehicle seemed like a small deviation. Berard explained that it was all about "taking the sets to the next level. You start with Café Corner, which had no interior. Then you get to Green Grocer and we gave it an interior. Then the next step for Fire Brigade became adding a vehicle. So it's all about evolution." By the time they got to Grand Emporium they realized the interiors were pretty expensive to do. On Grand Emporium the focus was more on making it another corner building, but one that differs from Café Corner.

We talked about availability as well. "These sets are exclusives, so they're supposed to be rare. They're on the market for about three years, then they disappear."

He also mentioned two other pretty cool things: the frog is one of his favorite elements, so he's always looking to use the frog in new ways (hence the inclusion in Café Corner and the use of frogs as helmet hangers in Fire Brigade).

Another one of his favorite bits (and mine, actually) are the hidden things: the mouse under the stairs in Café Corner and the bat in Fire Brigade's bell tower. The hidden item in Grand Emporium was supposed to be the minifig in the dressing room, but "then they put it on the box. It was supposed to be a hidden bonus, but the marketing department felt like they wanted to put it on the back," he smiled.

Lastly, I put forth the theory that there's a hidden clue in each set that indicates what the next set is going to be. "I've heard about it. Sounds like a stretch to me," was his kind comment.

Lifesize minifigs.

At the LEGO store, I picked up two lovely exclusive sets: the Winter Bakery and Shuttle Adventure. I also bought my first used set ever at one of the stands. Finally, after all these years of disappointment and frustration for not getting it as a kid, I am now the proud owner of the Deep Freeze Defender.

As we left the event, we received a goodie bag containing - along with some other stuff - a Creator promo (this one).

well, the event is hosted by the Bouwsteen LEGO Club (the display part that is, it's a joint operation of LEGO / Libema / Intertoys and de Bouwsteen). But members of other clubs like BeLUG, 1000steine etc. are aslo encouraged to participate.

I've visited LegoWorld yesterday, together with my son and my dad. It was amazing, last time I went there was 8 years ago. Saw some great MOCs and offcourse took some photos. A few of them will be visible in my Brickshelf account. When the folder is public, they will be visible here.

Also had a really nice chat with Lego Designer Jamie Berard! :classic:

Off course i couldn't leave without a Lego set, so I bought the new Excavator and my dad gave my son a nice duplo set: Petrol Station

Can't wait 'till next LegoWorld...

Thanks for the pictures, the Inventor!

Some really great builds there

Do you know who built this Swedish ferry?:

img_0280.jpg

The rail ferry was build by a member of Freelug (France), I'm not entirely sure the name of the build was though. It was hard for me to communicate with them as I don't speak French and they didn't speak English :)

It was the first Legoworld for me (shame on me). I dragged my wife and daughters with me (yes, it will really be fun, believe me...)

I loved the whole atmosphere there, so much Lego, so many people from young to old enjoying Lego.

Lot's of entertainment for the kids and much to see for AFOLs. Fun to see all the dads carrying Lego bags with Shop@Home stuff and kids carrying stacks of boxes away from the Intertoys shop. 10% discount was not enough for me, so I didn't buy there.

I did get a few trainparts from the secondhand stores and a nice Lego mug from S@H.

The best part of it all was the pop version of the song 'Van Lego kun je alles maken...' all dutch readers probably remember it from the commercials ages ago. It was part of the Lego show on the stage in the last hall. My wife didn't really understand why I got all emotional from the kids dancing on the song haha

The gift on the day I was there was a cute green tractor (4899).

At first I didn't get the goodies bag (Intertoys spam I thought), but ofcourse I went back to get one after I saw the Lego gift!

Even my wife couldn't resist and got one.

Definitely going there next year!
