Hello, my name is Zachary and I'm a 18 year old fan of Lego. I've been on-and-off collecting Lego since '01, and after a dark age of nothing for the last two years or so, I'm hooked and back!

I can't remember where exactly, but I stumbled upon an amazingly built Lego Pirate ship somewhere on the internet, it was massive with string rigging and all. I was thoroughly impressed, and could feel the fire being lit on falling back into Lego again, so I decided to poke around a bit more and found classic-pirates.com (which of course is linked to Eurobricks). After a few weeks of browsing through the Pirates section, I decided to download LDD with the unlocked Universe mode, and begin building a pirate ship of my own. I hit a slight road block when there wasn't the pre-made hulls in LDD, but I've been working around that with custom brick-built hull. I ended up poking around the other forums, and Hero Factory really caught my attention with it being the successor to Bionicle. The sets look much, much better than the last few years of Bionicle, and the story is a nice refresher from the complexities of Bionicle. I'm definitely going to give the series a try, and am hoping to pick up Rotor soon.

Prior to my dark age I was a avid fan of Bionicle. I started collecting them back in '01, which got me hooked on Lego, and continued to collect them all the way to the end of '08. For some reason the Glatorian just didn't appeal to me, the story felt too foreign, and I was already entering a dark age of no Lego. Outside of Bionicle, about when I was 11, I got really hooked on the Pirates sets of a few years prior. Thanks to much begging and pleading as a child, along with some luck, I managed to acquire three ships: Armada Flagship, Black Seas Barracuda, and Renegade Runner. I loved those ships dearly and used to always have them set out in some epic battle scene. Other than that, I've collected the Life on Mars series, first year of Exo-force sets, and both years of Mars Mission. I really had enjoyed Exo-force, but the second and third year sets just seemed to lack that something that made it so great at first, and really felt like a cop-out.

Outside of Lego, I'm mostly just your unordinary college student. I'm a diehard gearhead (but not a fan of racing series like Le Manns or Nascar or F1), mostly due to my family being made up of gearheads. I'm sure I'd have some more money to put towards Legos or other things if it wasn't for my car, but the whole drift scene has me enwrapped. I'm currently working on building up a Toyota Supra, while enjoy cruising around in a BPU'd Civic. Other than that, I find myself being drawn back towards another childhood treasure toy series of mine, Zoids, which are mechanical animal mecha model kits. They're fun quirky things to build and enjoy, much in the same way that Lego is enjoyable to build with.

Huh, that turned out to be more lengthy than I had planned. Guess that's pretty much all there is to me. I was holding off on joining until I finished the LDD design of my ship, but Hero Factory month with its contest has compelled me to join early. Hoping to be have some MoCs built and posted soon, and just get to know the community better. Eurobricks seems like a great place for us older fans of Lego to chat and enjoy each others work, and I'm glad to have finally joined.

Welcome to Eurobricks Zachary! Many of the Bionicle fans on here are just like you: they have been fans since the great beginning, and even those who have been fans since the Throwbots days. There are also many Pirates fans, it being one of the more popular boards. I see that you are interested in cars- I'm not sure if you're aware or not, but LEGO acquired the Lambourghini license last year (releasing a Convertible/Coupe and Polizia ed. Gallardo), and next spring there will apparently be a remake of 1994's Supercar with opening doors and hood. For pirates, we had an entirely new line last year, so I'm sure you'll be able to find some ones for cheap- along with this year's exclusive Imperial Flagship. You call yourself a gearhead? The Technic forums are the place to go, with many devoted fans and constant reviews.

I see you're also interested in Zoids. I almost started with them when I was a kid too, but no where near me sold them. Hopefully both of your hobbies flourish!

Thank you for the warm welcome KielDaMan and The Eye!

@ The Eye - I am aware of the Lamborghini license, and have eyed the sets a few times in the stores. I have yet to cave in and buy one yet, but I'm hoping some reviews can help persuade me to purchase at least one.

Here is a link to the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 review, AKA the Yellow Lambo. Great review here, with lots of good pictures and details.

Here is a link to the Lamborghini Polizia LP 560-4 review, AKA the Police Lambo. An outstanding review, with comparison pictures between the two sets.

Hope this helps you out!
