This plane was inspired by an amazing and excellent builder named John Hall18, if you ever have the time, look him up! And also, all credit for the hinge and aileron design goes to him.

This design popped into my head shortly after watching Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and seeing a P38 Lightning at the same time, so I thought why not try to build what had just been blue printed utterly into my skull? I'm pretty pleased with how it came out, this being the first brick built wing and heavily used SNOT technique plane I have ever done. Theres really no story behind it other then that, so I hope you all enjoy it!

First up a frontal view of it coming head on

A 6 o'clock shot...Uh oh.

A bird's eye, or ace-about-to-shoot-it-down's eye view

And lastly a bottom view

Again, I hope you all enjoy it! :classic: also, forgive the last two shot's fuzz....stupid shaky arm

Ooh.. I so love the smooth and streamlined overall finish of this aircraft, great SNOT building. The red color scheme looks very regal too. Great job Fire-storm! default_thumbup.gif

Thanks so much, glad you like it!

This is really sleek, too bad the smoothness doesn't continue at the tailfin. I think it needs more 'body' and landing gears, but the wings are excellent.

Thanks, I wanted it to be smooth on the tail, but I challenged myself to only build with the parts I had, rather then specifically ordering new ones to see what I could come up with. As for landing gear, I must admit, it needs them quite badly

Hello!

The P38 is instantly recognizable. You've done a great job here. :classic:

Have you thought of doing also a real-world version of it? With only a few modification you could handle this. I am sure many people would like this one as well, as it's a popular and unique plane design. :classic:

Cheers,

I was originally going to make a regular P38 as well, but then it sort of snowballed into a red sci-fi plane with artillery for a main gun  Glad you like it!
