The Penguin Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 (edited) Ladies and gentlemen! ) I'm proud to present you my new Castle MOC, based on my favourite Heroes of Might and Magic III universe. However, the design of the town hall is obviously inspired by WOW one. This summer was pretty hot in Russia, so I guess subconsciously, I, The Penguin, just had to make such a "cold" MOC! ) Somewhere on the border of Bracada and Erathia you can find a small village Alexandretta. The citizens have a strange tradition here: they celebrate the first snowfall with a grand feast to welcome the coming winter. The local Town Hall is a place where the nobility and most notable citizens of the local lands gather to have a chat and a drink. Would you like to join? "Welcome, my lord! Would you like to have a stroll around our Town Hall?" "Make way! Make way! Fresh bread for the Feast!" "You might wish to follow him, my lord....." Meanwhile, inside the guests have already gathered and and the Feast has begun! Chief Engineer Burorin and Head Engineer Cranx are arguing if the stale croissant could be used as a boomerang..... The elf is also interested in croissants. Though he's trying to calculate the number of calories in it. ) Pingvin the Lich became so excited while telling the young prince about his latest experiment that he accidently poured the drink over the princess! More food! ) Thank you for your time! I hope you liked my MOC! ) Any comments, please? Guud day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Edited November 30, 2010 by I Scream Clone Quote
Princess Muttonchops Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Awesome MOC Penguin. I love the colours, the red roof works so well with the brown and grey walls. And the icicles hanging over the front door really make it feel like winter. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Another superb MOC The Penguin! I simply love the overall -wintery'-snowy look of the whole creation. The cheese slope snow and the trans-blue bar icicles are very clever details. The interiors are also expectedly great. Just a couple of questions, though: - What set did that lady headpiece come from? <first time I saw that one> - Are those custom wall stickers or from official sets? Impressive work as usual! Quote
Jebediahs Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I love the "cold" details. The icicles are neat but I especially like the clumps of snow lying around like the one studs, the heaps along the walkway or that big heap of snow on top of the barrel. It's been many years since I've seen snow in person but this MOC was triggered fond memories. I also enjoyed the return of some of your fantasy chars. More food! ORC! Quote
WhiteFang Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 This is such a nice winter town hall. I like those little details that you have put into this creation like the clearing of snow on the pavement, the logs, ice on the roof, etc. Best of all, the cosy interior with all of your amazing cast. Quote
RoryoCox Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I love this. It reminds me of a small building near me. The building is nicely detailed and the icicles are a nice touch. I really want to see more building like this soon. Thanks for sharing Quote
Fires-storm Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Well done, this moc is amazing! I love all the detail, and the narration made me laugh so much: "The chief engineer and the head engineer are arguing whether a stale croissant could be used as a boomerang." Priceless Out of curiosity, where did the goblin head come from? Quote
Admiral Ron Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Wonderful! The roof and icicles work very well together, as do the characters! One thing I really enjoyed was the tree, I didnt know those pieces came in white! Great work! Quote
The Penguin Posted September 21, 2010 Author Posted September 21, 2010 Awesome MOC Penguin. I love the colours, the red roof works so well with the brown and grey walls. And the icicles hanging over the front door really make it feel like winter. Thank you, um-m, should I call you my lady or my lord? ) Indeed, the icicles do work well for such MOCs, however, I should admit that I added them at the last moment. ) I'm glad you liked it. Another superb MOC The Penguin! Thank you very much, KielDaMan! ) I'm pleased to reseive such high rating of my humble MOC from you. ) The headpiece comes from Orient Expedition theme (Adventurers), I use it intensively in my Castle figures. ) The stickers are official, from the new Red castle, however, altered a bit by me. ) Thanks again! ) I love the "cold" details. More food! ORC! Thanks a lot, Jeb! You're always too kind! ) As for the snow, we see plenty of it here. Perhaps you would like to visit Russia some day? We'll give you a warm bear hug, comrade! ) This is such a nice winter town hall. I like those little details that you have put into this creation like the clearing of snow on the pavement, the logs, ice on the roof, etc. Best of all, the cosy interior with all of your amazing cast. Thank you very much, WhiteFang! ) You know how I value your opinion. ) Well, since I value high level of "detalization" in MOCs myself, I tried to add as many as I could here. And I really like my Castle characters, so when I say them lying in a box bored and without much action in their lives, I decided to give them some. Not to mention it being actually the first more or less HMMIII MOC here. However more obvious and recognizable things are still to come! I love this. It reminds me of a small building near me. The building is nicely detailed and the icicles are a nice touch. I really want to see more building like this soon. Thanks for sharing Thanks a lot! ) Well, I can't promiss you anything like that soon, but I hope you'll like the upcoming MOC, nevertheless! ) Well done, this moc is amazing! I love all the detail, and the narration made me laugh so much: "The chief engineer and the head engineer are arguing whether a stale croissant could be used as a boomerang." Priceless Out of curiosity, where did the goblin head come from? Thanks a lot! I'm glad that you liked the story. A MOC is always better when you put some life into it, isn't it? ) The goblin head is my custom one (based on CW Yoda), that can be seen in my Castle customs topic. Feel free to check my signature! ) Wonderful! The roof and icicles work very well together, as do the characters! One thing I really enjoyed was the tree, I didnt know those pieces came in white! Great work! Thanks a lot, Admiral Ron! ) Neither did I. However I got a bunch of those from BL, so you can easilly check what sets they originate from. ) Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Quote
I Scream Clone Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Just beautiful work all round Penguin. I love how the new castle walls have been integrated, and the icicles are such a lovely touch. Keep up the great MOCing. Oh and Frontpagged as well Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 AWESOME yet so much a winter wonderland 'The Penguin' - congrats on being front paged ! I'm a conformist! 'The Penguin' I'm a conformist! ! Quote
ZeeK Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Oleg, that is MARVELOUS!!! Taking my hat off - that is genius!!! Quote
Solitary Dark Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 So many wonderful details. The red roof. The dark red curtains. Th dripping icicles. The cheese wedge snow. This looks like you could use it with any number of different minifigure themes - At first I thought it could work with Samurai/ Ninja minifigures, then saw you'd used many types of Historical castle. Wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Nice moc! It has a lot of great detail! Quote
TheCrimsonTrooper Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Nicely done. I like how you did the icicles using the lightsaber blade and that "lazer beam" from the Series One Spaceman. I must admit this made me think of winter and how one finds that in winter, one can always get warmer, and that in summer, one cannot always get colder. Quote
blueandwhite Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 This is really quite impressive. Winter scenes are hard to pull off yet you've done an amazing job here. The lightsaber icicles work particularly well. Figure placement is also handled quite nicely. I really like the way you used cheese slopes to convey snow piled up along the walkway. Strangely enough, while I'm not that fussy about red roofing in most MOCs, in a winter scene like this it stands out perfectly. Great work. Quote
sens1992 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Very nice MOC. There is a nice winter atmosphere around the house. I really like what you have done here. Quote
Captain Becker Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 (edited) *Picks up the eyes from the floor* Cant belive my eyes! You did really great job there, the tree is Marvelous And the woman out side really makes the russian feeling on it eh? The inside is breath taking, and those odd... creatures? Makes the feeling just perffect. Awesome job Penguin, keep it up dear neighbor. And the summer was hot here in Finland too, i didnt sleep at all so that was just real pain to me EDIT: is that SlyOwls helmet or crown a custom one? Baylego Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Great MOC! I love everything about this. The wintery feeling on the outside and the warm feeling in the inside is perfect. I also really like your custom figures. Also, is your bat/crown piece custom? Quote
Sam Vimes Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Great work as normal, I just had a thought what if you do a series of castle mocs, with Batman in Medival Times, that would be cool to see you do Mr Penguin. For Example have Joker look like a jester. Bane as a Dark Knight with a axe or looking like a troll. You deciede tell me if you like my idea. Quote
indyman09 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Great work! I love that skeleton king minifig. Quote
Dan the Brickman Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 It would look good with the winter toy shop, and the new holiday set coming out... a real nice winter layout..... Quote
Ras 74 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Great new MOC Penguin! A really great small winter landscape. Loves how you pulled of the snow around the path. Really great use of those 1x1 cheese slopes. Then I also just can add what the rest have said about the warm look in the interior, funny small details such as the poured drink and the argue of the croissant is just crazy fun. This makes me really want to build something to put next to the Winter Tyshop. Quote
