diabloiij Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Hi guys, I don't know what exactly my roommate major in, but I know he works with plastics and molds. So one day I ask him if he can help me make some Lego molds he said yes since he gets access to his college lab 24/7. The is what he came up with! Enjoy! My link My link My link My link Quote
commdr_neyo Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Wow, these look great! The sand green is quite accurate, and looks great on the helmets I wish I could mold like that Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Interesting... Those custom pieces look quite good though it's expectedly not of lego quality but it's quite near. I wish I could have the molding capabilities like your college friend has. I could just imagine the limitless custom parts that I could do. Quote
Fires-storm Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Wow, those are very good! out of curiosity, what kind of molding machinery and plastic does he use? Quote
prateek Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Awesome! I hope I can have a roomy like that! Quote
Masked Builder Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Awesome work! Wish I could do that. Quote
The_Customizer Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 That looks really sweet. I think I have seen those on eBay, somewhere....... Hmm, so your roommate made them and gave them to you? Would you be willing to trade/sell some of them? Quote
woody64 Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 (edited) Really interesting. Would also be interested in the technique and the material he has used. How many pieces did he make? Is it correct that these are all standard lego pieces copied by a mold? If yes, would be really interesting if you mold a real custom piece and see the results! diabloiij Posted September 22, 2010 Author Posted September 22, 2010 Wow, those are very good! out of curiosity, what kind of molding machinery and plastic does he use? I believe he use aluminum mold (I could be wrong), and he use ABS plastics. Really interesting. Would also be interested in the technique and the material he has used. How many pieces did he make? Woody64 I think he uses direct injection mold. He made couple buckets of each mold, a rough guess 100 of each. (I think his school actually limits him on how many he can make, just enough to test the integrity of the mold) No, I don't think he can make any more because he can only use the machinery for his final project. That looks really sweet. I think I have seen those on eBay, somewhere....... Hmm, so your roommate made them and gave them to you? Would you be willing to trade/sell some of them? I think he is selling what he have on Ebay. I do not think there many are left. I remember him telling me about a few Lego customize brought a big chunk of those. If you want to trade, I have 10 of each available. I am not going to sell them. Quote

Okay, yeah, I was the one that bought 10 white ones on eBay (it's a small world after all!) But yeah, what would you like for them? just PM me, okay? Quote
