Ewok Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Hi! Because of the awesome Spartan in the minifigure series 2 I decided to make a King Leonidas. So, here he is, please everybody shout out loud "THIS IS SPARTA" for the King! Fore more Pics, visite my mocpages: KLICK ME! I hope you like him Ewok Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 "THIS IS SPARTA!" "Ahoo! Ahoo! Ahoo!" Nice custom King Leonidas Ewok, good use of the hair and shirtless torso to approximate the Spartan King. Once again, "All hail King Leonidas!" "Ahoo! Ahoo! Ahoo!" Quote
Ewok Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 Thanks! The King is very happy thta you like him ^^ Ewok Quote
Masked Builder Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Series two are great for just combining with other stuff right? Great job! Quote
Ewok Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 Thanks I think today a new figure will follow.. Quote
Galactic Marine Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Great choice of face, great choice of torso, my suggestion is that change his legs to the female lifeguard's legs so it'll be more movie accurate Quote
Ewok Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 Thanks, but wouldn't it look a bit …… gay.. Ewok Quote
Cutty Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Thanks, but wouldn't it look a bit …… gay.. Ewok No, it just would look like a supposed spartan king wearing red speedos. May I contibute a suggestion? Add a standard-issue Lego rubber band in black to perfect Frank Miller's representation of a spartan hoplite's uniform? Attach it to wrap around either arm, add a singular twist, forming a "X"-shape on the back and attach the other side similar to wrap around the other arm. Thus the graphic novel's, as well as the corresponding movie's, imagining of spartan "war"-drobe would be completed. (And that black queen-hairdo from this year's Kingdoms advent-calendar couldn't hurt to represent a Leonidas figure...with the braid encircling the forehead and all...) Be well all, Cutty Quote
The Penguin Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Thanks, but wouldn't it look a bit …… gay.. Ewok I don't think that either spartains or athenians would have had any problems with that. They just wouldn't understand what being gay was. ) Anyway that's a nice job, you've done. I really like such purist simple customs. In fact they're often much better than those with layers of decals or tonns of sculpey on them. However at the same time you can't get any fig you want, going strictly purist. Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Quote
Sandy Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Hmm, a nice amalgamation of a few of the collectable minifigs. I personally find it hard to call these purist figs "customized", though, since you don't call MOCs "customized sets" either, if you get what I mean. I don't think that either spartains or athenians would have had any problems with that. They just wouldn't understand what being gay was. ) Education time! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexuality_in_ancient_Greece Quote
Forresto Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 This is really great! It's a very nice an simple creation, nice job! Thanks, but wouldn't it look a bit …… gay.. Ewok Son, they played in the olympics (wrestling and everthing else) in the nude Different times mean different sensibilities. Quote

I personally find it hard to call these purist figs "customized", though, since you don't call MOCs "customized sets" either, if you get what I mean. Well, I get what you mean. And actually I agree with you. But Ewok did a good job nevertheless and it really doesn't make any difference what term we use, does it? Education time! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexuality_in_ancient_Greece Yep, exactly what I mean. Actually there was no difference between hetero- and homosexuals in Ancient Greece or Rome. Even in later periods. In that matter I remain a liberal man and suppose that in most cases it's just hypocrisy. In fact one of my closest friends is gay, and I assure you he's one of the best people I've ever met. ) Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) P.S. Aren't we being a bit gragged away from the topic? ) Quote
Ewok Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 Thanks a lot guys :D Ok, I will try the new legs! Ewok Quote
Wout Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Looks great Last week I thought about the red devilheads in the "monstergame" from the lego boardgames. You could put them on waiters and cooks bodies and make a nice little restaurant called "Hell" So the spartans can have a nice diner. To everybody: Feel free to use this idea. Quote
Ewok Posted September 18, 2010 Author Posted September 18, 2010 Thanks a lot! Lol, nice idea, the problem is I got no devil head ewok Quote
