Hi!

Because of the awesome Spartan in the minifigure series 2 I decided to make a King Leonidas. So, here he is, please everybody shout out loud "THIS IS SPARTA" for the King!

"THIS IS SPARTA!" "Ahoo! Ahoo! Ahoo!"

Nice custom King Leonidas Ewok, good use of the hair and shirtless torso to approximate the Spartan King.

Once again, "All hail King Leonidas!" "Ahoo! Ahoo! Ahoo!"

Thanks, but wouldn't it look a bit …… gay..

Ewok

No, it just would look like a supposed spartan king wearing red speedos.

May I contibute a suggestion? Add a standard-issue Lego rubber band in black to perfect Frank Miller's representation of a spartan hoplite's uniform? Attach it to wrap around either arm, add a singular twist, forming a "X"-shape on the back and attach the other side similar to wrap around the other arm. Thus the graphic novel's, as well as the corresponding movie's, imagining of spartan "war"-drobe would be completed. (And that black queen-hairdo from this year's Kingdoms advent-calendar couldn't hurt to represent a Leonidas figure...with the braid encircling the forehead and all...)

Be well all,

Cutty

I don't think that either spartains or athenians would have had any problems with that. They just wouldn't understand what being gay was. )

Anyway that's a nice job, you've done. I really like such purist simple customs. In fact they're often much better than those with layers of decals or tonns of sculpey on them. However at the same time you can't get any fig you want, going strictly purist.

Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) :classic:

Hmm, a nice amalgamation of a few of the collectable minifigs. I personally find it hard to call these purist figs "customized", though, since you don't call MOCs "customized sets" either, if you get what I mean.

Well, I get what you mean. And actually I agree with you. But Ewok did a good job nevertheless and it really doesn't make any difference what term we use, does it? :classic:

Yep, exactly what I mean. Actually there was no difference between hetero- and homosexuals in Ancient Greece or Rome. Even in later periods. In that matter I remain a liberal man and suppose that in most cases it's just hypocrisy. In fact one of my closest friends is gay, and I assure you he's one of the best people I've ever met. ) :classic:

P.S.

Aren't we being a bit gragged away from the topic? )

Looks great :thumbup::classic:

Last week I thought about the red devilheads in the "monstergame" from the lego boardgames.

You could put them on waiters and cooks bodies and make a nice little restaurant called "Hell"

So the spartans can have a nice diner.:wink:

To everybody: Feel free to use this idea. :classic:
