georgivar Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 This is my second try to build a CC style building using a real world example. It's a simple build as I didn't have time and bricks to make it very detailed. Anyway all comments and ideas are welcome - especially regarding the roof (it turned out to be very hard to replicate this construction with plates). So here is the real thing: And this is my LEGO version: Back with the porch: Similar angle to the photo with the real building: Next to my yellow house: Quote
prateek Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Wow! You got it perfectly! I love that you got the alternating brick pattern and the window/door framing right Quote
FROGG Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 You did a great job on the building, it looks spot on compared to the picture. Only thing i might change is maybe tiling the roof, but you cant really see what kind of roof the building has from the picture. I also liked the use of the 1x4 sloped brick with the cheese wedges on it for the awning. Quote
vlai23 Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I really like this MOC. It is a great representation of the original & shows that not every modular building needs to be overly detailed (i.e., almost baroque style) to look nice, accurate & real-world. One minor suggestion--those planters in the original photo look just like the bottom halves of the LEGO treasure chests... Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Spot on 'georgivar' - perfect colour and shapes - AWESOME work......I really like ! Keep up the cool work 'georgivar' and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Another great MOC of a real-world house georgivar! I still remember the yellow one that you did, this one is as accurate to the real thing. (It's like the exact lego build copy of the red house). Quote
WhiteFang Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Nice creation. It's good to see that you are able to replicate the building structure by using LEGO bricks. I liked how you used different sizes of white windows to integrate them together. This is now blogged in, Quote

Anyway all comments and ideas are welcome - especially regarding the roof (it turned out to be very hard to replicate this construction with plates). Once again a job well done. I have one suggestion, the arched window on the top floor would look better if the mudguard piece were one stud further out and the square gaps around it were filled in behind it. It looks wrong ate the moment and distracts from the otherwise high standard of the rest of the Moc. I hope we see more of your buildings in the future (as I will be using ideas and maybe even copies of your buildings on my train layout). Quote
georgivar Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Thanks all! Glad you like it. I have one suggestion, the arched window on the top floor would look better if the mudguard piece were one stud further out and the square gaps around it were filled in behind it. It looks wrong ate the moment and distracts from the otherwise high standard of the rest of the Moc. Actually I was thinking about this while building but decided that it wouldn't look good. But when you said it, I decided to give it another try and here how it came out: It's better this way and closer to the original. 10x for the tip! :) Quote
peterab Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 It's better this way and closer to the original. 10x for the tip! :) Now it's perfect Quote
streifen Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 the real building looks like a copy of your MOC. Quote
Vindicare Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Very well done building. I would most definitely buy this for my city! It would go nicely next to matte street. Excellent job! Quote
