Still Raindrop Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 (edited) So, I'm about to start making a small-town grocery store (though it won't be as big or fancy as the Green Grocer, more space will be dedicated to the actual store). I was going through my minifig torsos to try to find a suitable one for grocery store employees, but I found nothing that fit really well. The only torsos that really have aprons are clearly medieval in design, and the overalls on modern-styled figs just don't look quite right. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or perhaps even a custom torso they can point me to? My back-up plan is just to use the old plastic cape that appears in the classic castle sets (and is used as a blacksmith's apron), but I wanted to find out first if anyone had any better ideas. Darth Hawken Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I would use this torso. Its not perfect but its better than any other torso I can think of. Quote
TheWarden Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 (edited) You might just have to get creative. There is certainly a lot of "overalls" torsos in City/Town (a lot in the Farm line) and if you've gone through them and don't like them... hmm. Maybe if your store has a color theme you can use mono-color torsos. Otherwise, load up Bricklink, hit town minifigs and browse. Some of the Adventurers line had some basic tan w/ pockets torsos if I remember right... EDIT: The Adven one I was thinking about was this one: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb307c01 Edited September 8, 2010 by TheWarden Quote

UsernameMDM Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I like the red plaid/green overalls look. Quote
Still Raindrop Posted September 9, 2010 Author Posted September 9, 2010 BlueBard, thanks for the link! Although that's a cool technique, I'd still have to customize a torso to get the top of the apron look. I tried using the blue plastic cape from the Guarded Inn as an apron, and it looks decent. The problem is, I only have one of those, so there could only be one employee, and I'd really like two. I may just end up using the green overalls over plaid shirt look. Or I could go the Gilmore Girls route... I don't think I ever say Taylor Doose (the owner of the grocery store) wearing an apron (though I may be wrong; this just gives me an excuse to watch some of the episodes with my wife again ) Quote

Sandy Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 In my country grocery store workers don't even use aprons (unless they're working behind the meat or the bread desks), but just uniforms of each store's own colors. But if you want aprons, then I agree that the small plastic capes look the best. The red ones were quite common, I for one have a bunch of those as well as some black ones. I rarely use them anymore, though, since I have so many cloth capes now. Quote
