Hi, My name is Steve. I'm in the UK.

I have joined this forum as I have recently uncovered my old Lego 12v train set and I would appreciate some advice on selling it.

The train is a 7745. I also have 4 points (2 remote)lots of track inc crossroad. I have all the books and sticker sheet but do not have any boxes. It all appears to be in good order.

Is it best to sell as a lot or split into smaller lots?

Is eBay the best way to go? What starting prices would be appropriate?

If anybody here is interested please pm

Cheers

Steve

You can't post in that forum until you reach a certain post count, to prevent people joining just to flog stuff to other members.

As for selling tips: Instructions are always good to have, as are all the parts. Check it all works. Look at eBay and see how it seems to sell and check out bricklink for price and parts guides.

Thanks for info, ironic really, as I thought I'd offer it to genuine Lego enthusiasts before putting on eBay, seems I wasted my time.

I would still appreciate tips on how to sell it (whole or split), even if nobody here is interested in buying it. I am surprised though, as I always thought it was a quality set up.

Like I said, you can check Bricklink for a full parts catalogue, it will also provide some prices they sell for, eBay will also present some prices. Then you could stick around and contribute enough for access to the sales forum, or you could list it on eBay and know that ony genuine Lego fans are likely to buy an old train track as the new standard is RC and not compatible with 12v, the popularity of the non RC trains means that any casual buyer would soon be priced out of an eBay lot of 12v train track and train (especialy if listed correctly). There is a Train subforum where those more knowledgeable about such things reside, they could provide more information.
