So this is my work in progress layout thread. I'll update it as new things are added, like next week I should have the brown parts to convert 6054 forestmen hideout to a nice realistic tree. But after that I don't really have much till the new kingdom sets show up.

So on to the layout. What I wanted from the start was playability, but it had to look good, so when my friends showed up they'd think it was just for display! I think Im quite happy how it turned out, Its just a combination of sets, my MOC skillz are a little weak. But I've made a few changes here and there. Hopfully this will inspired some of you sets horders to throw em together!

Lets start the tour with the Lion/Tiger/Puma knight's castle.

So heres the front.

So now on to everybodys fav, the forestmen!

Looking from the Dragon/Snake/Geico Knights tower, all you can see is trees...

Hi Tpatcher!

I like your layout a lot, although I'm not really into castles.

You have a good number and a variety of population that make your MOC (let's call it a MOC, you worked on it after all!) very realistic, and the life scenes are well depicted.

I particularly love the forestmen hideout, I wanna build a house that looks like that :p

Will you at some point post a pic of a more general view of the layout?

P.S. What's the wizard frying? Gold? The philosophal stone?

That's cool, but I'm not sure the kings very smart, trusting the enemy wizard to stand by his side...he could strike hind down at any moment! Also, good use of advent calendar, I got one the other day and am going to incorporate it with my other Kingdoms sets, too.

Nice setup. Bit unsure about the joust, the dragon knight looks like he's going to go straight into the fence!

About the modified forestmen sets. Firstly I'll say this: they do look good. But still, what's with all these people changing the forestmen bases from black to brown these days? Not all trees are brown, some are black, some are silver. We even have white ones over here.

Yeah I was a weee bit tight on space in that corner, it was just one of those watch a movie and buid it things. Im thinking of putting the new harry potter house in that area, or the fortified inn.

I've never seen a silver tree!? I regret converting it to brown, the cost of those old brown bricks have been astronomical!! But it does look more natural then black. I think the dark forest sets kindof made all the old forestmen owners grumpy with there colored trees, at least I feel that way!

Birch trees have many different colours, some a very light colour (silver birch, paper birch, white birch etc). Oh don't forget the white tree in Lord of the Rings!

Yeah I imagine the brown conversion would be quite expensive. Imagine making a paper birch version (yeah okay, so you can't fit a person inside a skinny tree like that) and using tan pieces...
