prissy Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I purchased this huge bunch of legos at a sale and was told they were real legos made before the word "lego" was put on the bricks. While they do have lego characteristics, they are a bit larger and the only marking is a single number on most of the pieces. I don't know if the little men things came with the set originally or if someone added them. Does anyone know who might have produced them and what they are. They are well made and quite interesting. Thank you so much for your time and help. Forgot to add that you can double click on the picture to make them easier to see. Thanks again. Quote
Zzz Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 No, I am sorry to disappoint, these are not Lego. Also they don't seem to be that old. Early or mid 90s I would say, and that's maximum. Official bricks have the name on it since.. I have no clue, I assume since the 60s. Anyway, that's not what is important here. Sorry, but welcome to EB! Quote
prateek Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I'm sorry but that's not Lego. You got conned. Quote
ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Mope, not legos. Could possibly b that they thought it was lego, but saying that it was "early legos" is a little fishy. Quote
Toth Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 (edited) Nope, For sure they are not Lego. But they look to be nice toys anyway and it's not because it is not Lego you can't enjoy it! :) It looks more like some buildings/play set to extend the univers of little plastic Cowboys and indians. I searched a little on Google and found this: ExinWest / Exin West Toy Old-West Playsets, Buildings, Cowboys and Indians Play Sets Look here, line 9: http://www.drwebman.com/want/ and here: http://www.google.fr/images?um=1&hl=fr&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=Exin+West+Toy+Old-West+Playsets&btnG=Rechercher&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai= it looks it was really popular in Mexico in the 70's and 80's so those toys are vintage and if they are in good state, keep them preciously. Some people can be really interested! :) a little movie with a lot of thos sets you got. Lego definitly needs to do another wave of western sets! Edited September 7, 2010 by Toth Quote
vexorian Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Due to a lot of bulk purchases of used parts that usually come with clone garbage as well. I have pieces that look like those. They are pretty bad as a clone since they are not compatible with anything else. I'd rather find megabloks et all in the bags I buy because since they are compatible with one another at least they will be useful for charity donations. I honestly don't know what to do with the ~6 pieces I have that look like the ones in your pics. Since they are not even LEGO compatible, I think you got robbed :(. The whole story about they being old Lego makes me think those people were intentionally deceitful, shame on them. Quote
Artanis I Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 In addition to these responses, Lego did not use those colours until recent years. Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I agree with everyone else, that is not Lego, the logo has been put on top of the studs for just over 50 years. At least those pieces do appear to be in good condition. I'm a conformist! ! Quote

Listen to this guy, If they are not LEGO, that does not mean that they are junk!!! I have a bunch of these kind of vintage clone brand sets, mostly Haslam American bricks, and they are quite rare. If you do not want those, I would just put them in the attic and forget about them, who knows they might be worth something big someday. Quote
WhiteFang Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Since this is non-LEGO related, I will move this over to the Community section. Sorry to hear about this and welcome to Eurobricks. WhiteFang Quote
Plastic Nurak Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 (edited) They're clearly Exin West. Spain based Exin in '70s and '80s produced, among other themes and items, Exin West, Exin Castillos (Castles) and, obviously, more famous TENTE. They're not clone, because they're not compatible with our LEGO bricks. Between the end of Seventies and beginning of Eighties, TENTE and, in a minor way, the other Exin building toys had worldwide popularity. In the States Hasbro had sale license, in Italy Mondadori Giochi etc. Plastic has good quality (not cheap), surely better than the materials used by 99% of clone brands, Megablocks included. camelot Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Dear friend: this toy is typical of Spain and if you do not give useful to me would interest their parts, especially parts of roofs that are the least I have. If you're interested in selling please contact me and we will try to agree ( canito1971€live.com ). Greetings. Quote
