Log Entry 1:

The B3 Instigator, simply put, is a "jack of all trades"; (but master of none) fighter. BT3 designers took the "less structure for more weapons"; approach here. Nicknamed "flying wing"; by BT3 vets, the design incorporates a sort of circuit-board approach; the wing structure is a platform for weapons, sensor arrays, and the such to be be installed on top, while connections are run to each.

Visible connections and the wide area necessitated the shield generator seen near the middle. Attacks on large capital ships or ground installations is made possible by the large gamma cannon while attacks to small craft is via the rotary laser guns near the middle.

The cockpit comes with two small cargo holds for a bit of storage. Short and long range sensor arrays are on the opposite end; engine is in rear.

Seen pictured here is Lieutenant Markov. I'd watch yourself if you meet the pilot. He's gone a little crazy since he lost his hand.

The best way to view this (so I don't have to resize everything) is with the higher res photos and tagged items here at my Flickr album!

But if you like MOCPages it's there too.

Hello!

An interesting starship design. Asymmetric vessels are always a challenge. :classic: Browsing the entire gallery including the rear shots, my favourite details are the transparent letter boxes on the rear of the cockpit. I furthermore think that the vessel could need a few more trans-neon-green highlights, for example for the cannons and sensors. The lime green is otherwise a bit too dominating in my eyes. :classic:

Cheers,

Yes it is an odd little ship but that's not always a bad thing. :classic: I absolutely love the cockpit but this creation looks like it should be a WIP to me because it still looks kind of skeletal. For instance the plate in front of the cockpit should have something on it and that one piece cannon and exposed technic pieces should be changed, but other than that this is a very nice ship.

Legostein:

Gotcha. I tend to overuse trans light green so I think I cut them back here. Actually, that is almost the extent of my lime green, so maybe it's good I didn't have more.

Computerbug:

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree. It was sort of the aesthetic I was going for, the circuit board metaphor meant I built a flat plane and added pieces / details that look more stock to it. Each piece isn't supposed to jive with the rest. Just plopped on an assembly line. That's why the sensors look boring, the cockpit is one piece, the large cannon is oversized, the engine sits on top, etc.... then the connections are made the easiest way possible.

For the exposed studs, that was a design choice as well. Since it's low stud (minus the greebs) I left some studs exposed at certain spots to give texture, the hollow studs at the cockpit, the asymmetrical stripe on the cockpit top, the L plus 1x1 logo, etc. (Or maybe I'm making excuses b/c I have no lime tiles?)

Thanks for the critiques, glad you all liked it and the comments help me a lot! Blacktron forever.
