General Redwater Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I'm sorry I haven't been active lately, things have gotten very busy, but I have had some time to build. I recently wanted to make some Plug Bayonets for my colonial troops, I just wanted to try something different from the socket bayonet that I always use. So, after three different tries, I think I finally made a good design. First: The first try looked good, I like the way it attached to the barrel, but I thought the Brickarms knife looked a little to modern. I decided to change the knife, but keep the mechanism that I used to attach it, because I liked it. Second: On the second try, I decided to use a LEGO chrome knife. It looked good, but I thought too shiny, and a bit small. I also knew I would have to cut off, and sand down the claw, because it looked a bit bulky. Third: My favorite design. I didn't shave off the claw because I didn't have the tools on me at the time, but I did cut it off a few hours later. I like this one better because the sword seems the right length, and the knob at the end of it fits right into the barrel of the musket. I think it looked much better, and I plan to arm some of my early colonial troops with them. I know that the Plug bayonet was supposed to fit right into the barrel, but with the LEGO musket that isn't possible, so the mechanism was needed. The pictures are a bit blurry, I'm still using my bad camera, but I hope you can see it correctly. I hope you liked my design, and thank you for reading this. - General Redwater Quote
Captain Becker Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 The pictures are a bit blurry A bit Blurry eh? good if i can see something, No no, i see that Bayonet well. So, its nice technique but if the soldiers shoots, the bullet will hit on that baynoet and not for the enemy, So the bayonet is on the way.. i made my Bayonets uusing that new golden hook, Not so good and the Hook brokes uif i dont be careful (I have lost one already ) But i guess its... OK desing Afterall, but why did you changed the heads all the time? So dont use those claws or what ever they are, and put the sword right into that U clip, i know at it used but that desing isnt gonna work. Captain Becker Quote

That's what a plug bayonet is, a bayonet that fits into the barrel, blocking a person from shooting, but turning the musket into a spear-like weapon. It's like an early form of a bayonet. I do admit though, I like socket bayonets better(the ones that attach on the side), but I decided to give this a try. - General Redwater Quote

BrickPerfection Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Even though I think it's a nice idea to make plug bayonets as another form of them, I think these are too clums as are pretty much all bayonets that are not 3rd party ones (Brickarms). I would appreciate better photography next time even though the construction is pretty clear. Quote
