Flare Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) This was built for a contest on MOCpages On the 31st day of the month August in the year 2035, a UFO launched a pod to the planet Earth. Astronomers worldwide were terrified and yet excited and the prospect of extraterrestrial life... but were they friendly... or were they vicious? 8.31.2035 - Our men have been stationed here in Idaho near the location of probable landing place of object launched from the UFO. But wait... here it is! All guns are aimed on the robot. Wha' de' 'eck!? Ah hurd yo' plan't ha' po'ution prob'ms, so Ah deesieded tuh s'op bah un' gev ya' uh hulpen' han' un de' 'anitatiyon dis'ric', eh? Um... I wonder where he got that accent from... Bring it on... Thanks for viewing! Opinions appreciated Flare Edited August 31, 2010 by Flare Quote
TheWarden Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Oh, I must have missed this! Great big-vig! The robot is futuristic, complex, yet... clunky and primitive (with claws and teeth and such) at the same time. Make sense? If one criticism, perhaps a bit of variance in the grassy area. Too repetitious. A bit of dirt, or patchy grass, or small 1 or 2 stud hill could have been nice. Not too much though to distract from the main attraction! Quote

Yes I see your point with a little bit of variance, next time I do something like this I will make sure to do that Thanks! Quote

I agree with TheWarden, the lanscaping is a bit dull, but on the other hand, the scrapped road is great. The soldiers look good. You put there a large assortment of minifigs, and most important, a monkey! Where did you get the hairpiece on the forth picture? The robot looks really cool - I really like the cyborg-rhinoceros cyborg-Smilodon head and the hands, but I think that you should have built the robot legs or some hovering-device, it looks kinda weird (I mean, how does he move? By hopping?) Did you take it apart? Because I'd like to see the robot from the back. Edited September 9, 2010 by noname Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Great unique design for the alien-bot Flare, I agree with TheWarden's observation that it looks futuristic and prehistoric at the same time. It kinda reminds me of the 'old' Decepticon in Transformers 2 (the one who helped the Autobots in the end), especially since your robot even has a old-bot walking stick. Overall, good job! Quote

Yes, unfortunately I took it apart yesterday Great unique design for the alien-bot Flare, I agree with TheWarden's observation that it looks futuristic and prehistoric at the same time. Thanks KielDaMan :) Actually thought it is supposed to be a sort of cleaning tool... he is supposed to be some sort of sanitation robot or something XD Quote
