I have not played PC games for almost 20 years. But when my friend sent me a link to Machinarium game page, I got interested in this puzzle adventure, played the demo, and eventually bought the full version. The game takes you into a fantasy world of robots with amazing hand-drawn retro sceneries. There is no shooting, no killing, you just have to help robot Josef to solve clever and witty puzzles on his way to escape the Black Cap Brotherhood and save his robot friend. The graphics and the music are brilliant and there is no wonder that the authors received several international awards.

For MOCing I selected the scene when Josef meets a jazz band of other three robots. He helps them to fix their instruments and the band starts to play – you can watch the scene in Youtube video .

BTW, the main character is named Josef to honor Czech artist Josef Capek, who invented word robot. The word was used by his brother Karel Capek, the author of the world-first drama on artificial beings (R.U.R., 1920). Since that time, the Czech word robot has been introduced to almost all languages.

Ohh yeah, this is just amazing! I'm not familiar with the game itself, but based n the reference pic you pretty much nailed the overall look of the scene. The weird-looking robots and the details are simply fantastic! Great job Jonas! Now to check this Machinarium game out...

A little easier for children to say than "automaton"! Nice depiction, & you've tried to include most of the details from a very detailed scene!

YES!!!!! I was actually planning on doing a creation for this game too! :cry_happy: I'm glad to see that there are some machinarium fans here on EB! It looks very nice you caught the whole "Dirty tech" feeling of the game like everything would fall apart if you touched it but at the same time it's sturdy. :classic:

Hi, computerbug.

Do not hesitate and make your own version. I am looking forward to seeing it.

Hello!

That's a lovely bricked version of the scene portraied. :classic: Those little characters are really cute and well-built in brick. You really managed to get as many details as possible from the original in your design. :classic:

Cheers,

Hey Jonas,

First, thanks for introducing me to this game! I'm completely unfamiliar with Machinarium, but it looks intriquing, and I love the artwork from the still image.

Getting to your MOC, I think your work is brilliant! You've captured the scene thoroughly and with top notch skill. This scene is clearly not an easy one to build. I particularly like your build on the center green robot. Clever backdrop work too - you nailed the run-down, whimsical nature of the scene.:thumbup:

One thing that I've been wondering about - why isn't the little white robot over beside the fountain like his counterpart in the image? Just curious :classic:

Because that's the one you play as so he can really be anywhere since he can walk i'm guessing. :classic:

Yes, Computerbug is right. And, well, it would be pity to hide robot Josef behind the fountain, wouldn't be? :classic:

Great work Jonas, I really like Machinarium,

And you've created that scene perfectly, it looks really great and just like in the game. :classic:

Are you going to make some other scenes as well?

Thanks, Inventor.

Those, who played the game (or at least the demo), know that most of the sceneries are really amazing, with so many details depicting the world of (mostly archaic) machines. That is why the game is named Machinarium. However, most of the machines and buildings have very complex (not rectangular) shapes and that would be a big challenge for Lego builders.
