Forresto Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 The clone army or GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) was a massive interstellar war machine. It contained some of the finest sodiers ever to grace the galaxy. But even these geneticlly enhanced soldiers were still only foot soldiers. They were smarter and in most cases tougher then their droid enemies but even they were matched in a stalemate. To compensate for the incresing losses and the eventual stalemates in numerous battles, the kaminoans had developed special forces. These elite soldiers were given the best training that was avaible to the Republic, and they were often the catylysts of many Republic victories! Republic Clone Commmando The Republic Commandos or Clone Commandos were a squad based advance force. They often Took down targets before the rest of the army arrived or took on jobs in the battlefield that most foot soldiers could'nt handle. Commandos went through tough and severe training to becom what they are and grew up alongside the rest of their squad. I used sharpie to make markings on a regular clone trooper and a nail filer to file the fin down (Lego seems to need to one for the new BP ). 2nd Airborne Company Airborne Trooper Airborne Troopers wore a heavier armor designed with rapid aerial drops in mind. They were practiclly the paratroopers of the Clone Army. This one in paticular served in Obi Wan Kenobi's Battalion. I ued the same technique for this one as the Commando. Clone Stealth Trooper Clone Stealth troopers were used primarily for covert operations. They would spy out enemy installations and if need be "take care" of enemy leaders or VIPs. THey never were too involved in heavy fighting as they left that up to other units and relyed on gathering intel for those units. I used a black sharpie and colored an original Phase I helmet black. Can you see him? Clone Heavy Gunner Not exactly a part of the special forces but Clone Heavy gunners are trained in the use of heavier ordanance. THey handle bigger guns and usually are trained to support other infantry. Thank you all for viewing and all questions, comments, and citisizms are highly welcome! Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Not bad- better than most I see on MOCpages. For the commando, you need to take off a little more of the fin, and then hop on over to a craft or hobby store and pick up some 600+ grit sanding film/sand paper to smooth it down. For both the commando and the airborne trooper, I would've preferred Phase 2 torsos, but that's just me. And although the stealth trooper is very good, I think you've used a little too much Sharpie for my tastes. (it is Sharpie, right?) One of the problems with darker colors and Sharpie is that when you use it over a large area, you get all those little spots. Try spray paint or, better yet, I've seen great results from vinyl dye. Corydoras Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 As far as I'm concerned, I don't like customizing that involves damaging original LEGO pieces. Some of them, like the SW minifig parts, are quite expensive so it makes me kinda upset. Damaging bricks. "So uncivilized..." Sorry if I'm being rude, but that clone helmet covered in black paint looks particulary ugly. The only one I like is the Heavy Gunner. Quote
Zorro Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 They look good to me, especcialy the Clone Stealth Trooper, but my favourite is (like most people appereantly) the Clone Heavy Trooper with the machinegun. The black helmet can indeedly be done better, but perhaps it looks like this due to the light and proximity of your camera when photographing this? Anyways, thanks for sharing ! Quote
Darth Yogi Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 They look nice although it hurts to see an original phase 1 clone sharpied on. The rest are cool although i agree that phase 2 would be better bodies. Good job Quote
prateek Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Nice job. I really like the Airborne Trooper and the Commando. I might do that to the Commando in the new BP that's coming out. BTW, instead of using Sharpie on the Stealth Trooper, you could spray paint it. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 (edited) Pretty good customs Count Forresto. I for one, liked how you chipped off the fin in the Clone Commando, I think I would try the same in the Clone pilot helmet (the way it should be). Regarding the black stealth trooper, the black print does look obviously 'sharpied'. I think a better way would have been the use of black spray paint as more even finish will be achieved. Still, good overall job! Edited August 30, 2010 by KielDaMan Quote
The Legonater Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Personally, I like the effect the sharpied helmet gives. It's cool. I love these, except the commando should've had full sharpying on a white torso. The rest are 1000% great though. The Z-6 could be better, IMO. Quote
mattlegodude Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Great job! I like the stealth trooper. Quote
