dr_spock Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Very nice. Would be great if Lego came out with a set like that.
Cadder Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 This is gorgeous. Lovin' it displayed on the mirror like that too.
Milan Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Firas has very unique models! When I first saw his creations I was like...WOW. This GT40 with chromed wheels is awesome, too! Good luck on Ebay!

Solscud007 Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 WOW that one is fantastic. you nailed it out of the park. Greta job. too bad there arent enough pieces in the right color to make the iconic Gulf powder blue and orange racing version.
Plastic Nurak Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) It looks so good ! It's a deserved slap to M#G@b70ks ( ) designers and their <insert that tiresome argument> GT . A curiosity, it's the same size of Arvo Bros' GT? Edited September 1, 2010 by Plastic Nurak
Superkalle Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Just a friendly remark: Since it's a copy of Firas model, I would recomend that you send him a mail to inform him about your copy. If he finds out some other way that you have copied his design and sold it on E-bay, there may be problems.

However it is not, it is my work it took inspiration from firas. The design will be different as i didnt have instructions to build from. I will credit firas as an inspiration in the sale. Regards sky It looks so good ! It's a deserved slap to M#G@b70ks ( ) designers and their <insert that tiresome argument> GT . A curiosity, it's the same size of Arvo Bros' GT? I was inspired by the avros yellow GT40. I was considering building, however it is a big model, 1:10? which apparently no longer exists. When i saw firas red GT40 i felt the 1:17 scale was interesting and i would give it a try. I mainly build Technic models, so this was a diversion, but a good learning experience. I have the parts to build the avros GT but at the moment not the time.... sky

Hm, just because you are forced to slightly mod the model because you can't reverse engineer it 100% correctly does not justify that you call it "an inspiration". For me it looks more like a copy since your car looks basically all the same as Firas. Besides I'm not sure I like the fact that you are using Eurobricks to advertise that you are putting it on E-bay.

Superkalle Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 have i broken a rule? All I'm saying is: 1) You are a new member here at EB that in your first post... 2) writes that you are putting out a model on E-bay that... 3) is all in all a copy of a respected community members work... 4) to which you don't have the courtesy to send a mail to inform about your copy
Ralph_S Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Yes You have, and when I find the time I'll deal with you. "modified"?! Oh yeah, may be you are talking about that grill tile piece you added on the doors!

Ralph_S Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) so do u like it or not ralph? I'm not Ralph. I'm the "original" designer of this model. I don't know why it appears like its Ralph who posted this comment. Edited September 1, 2010 by Ralph_S

Plastic Nurak Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) What is happened? Welcome Firas! Edited September 1, 2010 by Plastic Nurak
Spencer_R Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 have i broken a rule? You are not the owner of the Ford GT trademark name and design either. Selling an unlicensed replica for personal profit would seem to be a no-no.
Firas Abu-Jaber Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 If you don't remove this model from Ebay by maximum tomorrow I'll take legal actions against you. Firas Abu-Jaber
Ralph_S Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I don't know what's going on, but yesterday I was all of a sudden logged in as a different user when clicking on a link leading to EB. Apparently Firas has had the same thing happen to him and has inadvertently written a few posts under my name. I haven't posted anything in this thread, but since I've been dragged into this I'll say this. Firas' model is awesome and you've done a decent job reverse engineering it. Kudos for that. However, I don't think it's right to sell a model that is this closely based on a model built by somebody else without at least contacting the original builder first, irrespective of whether or not it technically legal. Ralph
Superkalle Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I've asked one of the moderators to have a look at this. Both at the conduct of skyliner and of the problems with posting. Please stay tuned.
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted September 2, 2010 Eurobricks Emperor Posted September 2, 2010 I have no immediate explanation for what happened with the accounts of Ralph and Firas. From what I can tell during the time of the weird mix-up both seemed to use the same Jordan IP-address . Let's hope it was a one-time glitch. But that aside, I'd first like to see some pictures of the original model from Firas to compare with this one side by side. Do we have a link? If it is really a 99% copy then I for sure having a moral issue with Skyliner not crediting Firas when posting "his" version and I will consider removing this thread (incl. pictures) from Eurobricks as clearly Firas didn't give his permission for making the copy.
