Hello, everypeoples. Here comes yet another one of the Fat Controller's Engines. Please welcome the old, but still useful:

Toby the Tram Engine

Toby is a class J70 0-6-0 steam tram with sideplates and cowcatchers. He was built in 1903 by James Holden, along with his brothers. Later, he worked on a tramway in East Anglia with his coach Henrietta, but buses and trucks soon took over their work and their line was about to close. A stout gentleman (the Fat Controller) visited Toby's railway in 1951 with his family, and enjoyed the time very much. His line closed in 1952 and then was closed up in his shed. When Thomas got in trouble with the law while running along a local road without any cow catchers or sideplates, the Fat Controller remembered Toby and asked for him immediately. Toby still works with Thomas on the Ffarguhar line, with his coach Henrietta.

 Fun fact: The Rev. W. Awdry visited a tramway in 1951 and made good friends with a tram driver there, where he got the inspiration for Toby.

Toby's interior was easier to design, because of his large cab and room for more details. At first I made him 22 studs long, but I decided that he should be about the same size as Thomas, so I made him 20 studs long. The sideplates are connected to Toby by a 1x4 SNOT piece on each end of the engine on both sides.

As another day ends, another day will begin. I just hope that Toby won't get stuck up the hill again like last time.

Always entertaining, always inspiring, always:

Nice to see another J70.

I have done mine to fit my livery in red & white.

Mines a lot smaller than yours at only 12 long.

Had to do mine as i live near Upwell where they ran :-D

I'd like to see the troublesome Trucks!

Looks good to recreate Thomas, has to be one of the favourites among children, I know my mates child loves it!

How about Henrettia though to go with your tram engine?

I will be working on some trucks with hay bales and milk churns. Also henretta i think all depends on the cash flow ;-).

Although mine isn't based on Toby but the actual J70 tram engine. Sadly of witch they made only 8 in total none of witch survive today :'(

On a sort of conected note there is talk of reopening part of the wisbeach to upwell route as a herratage rail road.
