MOC: Modular Town Hall

Continuing with my plan to modularise city sets, my next target was the Town Hall from the 10184 Town Plan.

The liberal use of black bricks and trans clear panels is due to insufficient dark green bricks and pillars...

Since I have no inspiration for modularising the 3rd 'building' in the Town Plan, I guess that's the end of playing with my Town Plan for now.

Excellent work 'metalgearsolid' - very nice tiled floors - wonderful wedding going on - great use of town plan parts......I have an idea....you didn't use many of the service station parts.....a modular one of those would be really cool !

This is really nice, the building.But it seems wierd that the church is on the 2nd floor . Anyway, nice work, even though it is kind of narrow.

Thanks! The idea of using the golden minifig came from a fellow Singapore AFOL who had shared how to remove the keychain pin on the local forum. Unfortunately I wasn't strong enough to yank the pin out, so you still see the pin head there.

Oh! I've been talking to AFOLs about modularising I didn't realise it may be a new word? In that case I love the idea of adding to the English language.

No idea really how to do a 2 storey service station... or what to put on the 2nd floor so just keeping the parts aside until I've an inspiration. Thanks for all your kind comments so far (in this and other posts!)

I was going to ask you to post some pictures of your modular town hall. Nice MOC again! I really like the interior. Actually the gas station can be "modularised" into a nice corner building. You can add a second floor or third floor for parking such as #6394 Metro Park & Service Tower.

It looks great. I think I'll use those clear panels on my Nizam's Persian Restaurant so you can see the interiors without removing the roof.

Wow, this is incredible! I love dark green, and the job you've done on this is just beautiful. The interior looks incredible, and the back and front are beautiful as well, so definitely keep bricking!

I love it.

It's similar enough to the original but doesn't lose the look of a modular building. The colour on the interior is really nice and you've made great use of the golden minifig keychain.

This looks fantastic!! I love the wedding chapel on the second floor!! Also, the transparent back is a great idea - not only can you see the interior, but a lot of local government buildings I've seen love bringing in the natural light.

Nice MOC! You said the reason for using the transparent bricks in the back, but I like that better than the green!

Thanks for the great idea! I looked up Metro Park on Brickset and a parking place does sound possible... but will have to wait until I get a huge BL order tho cos I don't have enough plates & tiles to do something like that. Am resisting BL cos I just spent a bomb recently.

Btw, I do post my MOCs on my blog, including WIPs so you could visit my blog now and then if you want to see more? I'm now working on a modular Pizzeria from 7641 City Corner which I really really like.

I would say yes, but it always depends on whether I've free time, inspiration and the right bricks on hand... I may alter the white modular building so as to get a matching set of buildings too.

I just don't like open backed buildings... but it's a very expensive 'dislike' to have!

I don't have the time to create any Modular buildings But I might make one soon, I too don't like open back buildings (unless I place them against a wall ).

Now that is a very nice building! The normal Town Hall building is just a little too small to be an actual Town Hall IMO.

I really like the interior as well, but the roof is a little plain at the back. My favorite part is the use of the metallic gold dish on the top of the building.
