Squarepants Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 (edited) The aim was NOT to create the most badass-looking nor the most realistic ship model. The goal was a model of ship fitting nicely my room and pleasant to the eye. Also, I decided to use no ropes nor custom pieces (including sails). Captain Becker Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Thaat me, and for your first ship is looking great. any pics at the stern? the MOC page pics dont show up for me. Captain Becker Quote
Squarepants Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 Seems to work now, at least for me - I think they have a kind of moderation or 24-hour new user blockade. Quote
Brig. Brick Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 nice ship, the raven nest are a little odd, and the lion in the hull seems very solid too keep MOCing Quote
BrickPerfection Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I simply do not know where you're heading with that foresail.... The figrehead is nice, inspired by the Imperial Flagship. Even if you say realism or building skill doesn't matter to you, I say: change the foresail to how it is normally attached; add a gunport stripe in a colour different than brown or black and sue 2x2 gunports. Good luck! Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Hmmmm..... If you don't seem to care about realistic looks, there is not much to say but, "Nice first attempt, maybe some time make a realistic one and choose which style you like best." but still, The bowsprit sail needs to be put on correctly and if you want it to be realistic the sides need to be sloped. I like the cabin, I haven't been able to get pieces to build a decent looking room for a ship. And, if you want just to be on display, I would want it to be realistic and cool looking. tchuk-norst Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Looks great, I do like the little bit of SNOT on the tumblehome. Quote
plokoon 4 life! Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 great moc, what a brilliant start to eurobricks. only, why are the maps on top of the ships wheel? Quote
Squarepants Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 (edited) The sails and rigging (it's too long, should end on the grey plate) are something I plan on changing, though not yet sure how. Any suggestions to the foremast placing without rigging are welcome. 2x2 gunports? No, since I do not have them in colors other than red. If only I had 8 yellow ones.... I have problems with amount in bricks pretty much everywhere. No yellow for gunports, not enough slopes to make the sides curved, not enough tiles with one dot to make the ship wider...and the costs of shipping to my country from Bricklink are enormous :/ The maps were supposed to make together one huge world map :P Edited August 29, 2010 by Squarepants Quote
Squarepants Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 (edited) Sorry for bump, updates on the way. Including the crew, new mizzen and some small changes. Updates MOCpage Edited September 12, 2010 by Squarepants Quote
Ratshot Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 (edited) I think that the big yellow things on the sides of the ship should be replaced with something else. They break up the flow. Don't get me wrong though, I think its a very nice ship Edited September 12, 2010 by Ratshot Quote
Nosaj Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 I think that the big yellow things on the sides of the ship should be replaced with something else. They break up the flow. Don't get me wrong though, I think its a very nice ship I am definently with ratshot on this one. try to put little flag pieces like most people do, and it will look much better. I am starting a MOC ship myself that will not be 100% historically accurate, so i respect that you to are doing this, but you may want to make a few smallish changes to make it a little more accurate.
