Ralph_S Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 It does feel better making compromises i just started my crane chassis (just putting technic parts randomly) and it turned out very great. Actually even close to TLG style, i decided to make it 8421 alike but Liebherr LTM 1100 style with no PF drive but with an option to put it instead of the engine I only put 1 motor in vehicle and 1 or 2 in the boom I also thought of making a new kind of outriggers with a very complex mechanism.(gotta think very hard on it) it does make things more fun! i just love the feeling when u randomly put parts and "accidentally" having them in the PERFECT place. i think this model would be a great success (if i don't get into troubles with it ) Anyways thanks for the tips! i am always happy to hear from the professionals Regards, Shimon Just for the record, I don't do this professionaly. It's just a hobby for me too, but I have been doing it for a long time. I know the feeling of 'accidentally' finding the perfect part or place. I tend to plan my builds in advance, but there always are bits that need to be sorted out on the spot. Sometimes, after a long time of unsuccessfully fiddling with something, you get an idea all of a sudden and things just come together. Good luck with your crane. I look forward to seeing it. Cheers, Ralph Thanks! Its quite hard making a huge vehicle from memory only (no sources to copy) Although im inspired from Makorol's LTM 1050 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=438378 Unfortunately no space for special outriggers(battery box- little room). Do you also have interesting projects? for future MOCS? Regards, Shimon Edited August 22, 2010 by shimon Quote
allanp Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 This is great, I love the compactness of it. So many functions in a small space. Love it! Quote

Unfortunately I will have very little opportunity in the next few months to do any building. I have started a new job a few months ago and am far away from my LEGO collection most of the time.
