Sid is really just being creative in the movie, right? He takes apart toys and puts them back together in new ways, not unlike certain brick users I know ;D

The Claw is one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite movies. I was inspired by the cover of BrickJouranl issue 9 with the swarm of Little Green Aliens.

This is incredible!

The sculpting is brilliant all around. There's just such a strong 'Sid' vibe being given off of the sculpture, and the skull design on his shirt is impeccably rendered. His facial expression has a very sinister, rebellious look to it as well. The lettering and overall shape of the rocket is fantastic too, but I think my favorite aspect of that would be the aliens waiting to be 'chosen'...poor play-things don't know what they're in for!

Excellent depiction of a memorable scene from a memorable movie. :thumbup:

Oh my that's a wonderful creation, default_wubnew.gif I had the same idea to create 'The Claaaw', it's a good thing I didn't push through because your execution is much much better. It even has a Sid maxifig! I like how you improvised using lime dome topes and blue legs to multiply your already numerous LGMs! Though it would have been perfect if there was an actual glass pane, but that's asking too much. Overall impressive job Sir! default_thumbup.gif

BTW Clark, I just noticed that you attached the images in your post. It would be much better if you use image hosting sites such as flickr to show your MOC photos. Just an advice. also pls. feel free to read the Member Guidelines, and visit the Website and Forums thread for some useful tips and tutorials. default_classic.gif

Ah yes, I remember seeing pics of this from a convention (can't remember which) and that I immediately fell in love with it and was wondering where I could find better pics of it. And here it is. Thanks for posting it! This is the best Toy Story MOC out there at the moment! These are indeed great sculptures, even if they are way oversized compared to the figs. I lift my hat and hope you'll bless us with another amazing TS creation! :sweet:

As for the scale, it's interesting you noticed, you must have quite the keen eye. The scale was based on the fact that Woody is 5 bricks tall. The Claw game portion is less than %5 too tall, I fudged the height a little to accommodate the font on the sides. Sid's scale would be fine but his hands are ginormous which makes our heroes look quite small. Another thing throwing off the scale is the "real" Woody is not nearly as boxy as the minifig Woody. In the end, after careful work, it just became artistic interpretation.

Edit:...And some of the photos were taken very close up. The fish-eye camera lens effect blew the proportions out of wack for stylization

Oh, I see. Yes, it was the way the figs look much too small in Sid's hands and the size of the "Prize" flap that Woody crawls into in the movie that threw me off. But I can't argue with artistic interpretation. :classic:

This is amazing! Everything about this is spot on! Sid looks very accurate, and a nice job making the effect of having more aliens. I hope to see a lot more from you, Clark!

This is amazing! I knew someone would eventualy take a go at a claw macine but I never expected something like this! The details are great, I especialy like the skull on sids shirt, and the use of lime green domes to give the impression of a fuller machine.

@Blue Hair: I thought about building the trans clear part on the back half only or just leaving a small window or anything along those lines but no matter where I put it, it would have obscured at least one view. I may have to try something just to photograph but not use in the display. As for non-LEGO, I don't want to (gues that makes me a purist's purist.)

My favorite characters in the whole franchise!

And his toys were so much cooler than the "real" toys! I always wished they would produce a line of "Sid toys".
