Santhor Posted August 16, 2010 Author Posted August 16, 2010 I managed to snag it the third time around today (it's been available at least 3 times in the past 8 hours). I'd recommend just refreshing every so often ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ACUC0O/sr=1-1/qid=1281972860/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1281972860&sr=1-1&seller= ). $59.99 Really? This isn't some kind of elaborate joke, is it? If not, please excuse me for the next 8 hours while I refresh the Amazon shopping page. -Santhor Quote

Mr. Elijah Timms Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) Winter toy shop is in stock right now at Amazon. Just ordered one. Got mine too... although I'll feel a whole lot better when it's confirmed and shipped. All of these lightning strikes on their online inventory may mean that not all of the orders get filled. Still... FANTASTIC!! Edited August 16, 2010 by Mr. Elijah Timms Quote

GRogall Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Honestly, I don't think that 10199 (Winter Toy Shop) is sold out! I know that at least in Germany Idee & Spiel stores will be getting it september-october as a new product and its also too early usually we have exclusive sets around for at least two year. I'm sure that the US will get stock again when 10216 will be released! Just to repeat myself Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Just to repeat myself We acknowledge and appreciate your wisdom and clairvoyance, grogall. Now, what else can you see in that crystal ball about next year?? Quote

It almost looks like someone took a price tag off it...I wonder if they've been getting shipments from somewhere else. I really should crack it open, just to make sure all the pieces are there! Quote

Mine came yesterday as well, but I got to open it. All the pieces were there, I think I might've gotten a few extras, or I missed them on the semi-confusing directions. About the price tag, I can't find any residue on the box. -Santhor Quote
fred67 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Mine came yesterday as well... I got this set last year and I really love it, so I need to say that I'm really happy for all of you who got one this year without the secondary market mark up to over $100, and make sure you get the bakery this year so we don't have the same problem next year! Mr. Elijah Timms Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Mine arrived last night! My wife is making me wait to open it though. Ha! Got mine on Wednesday-- my wife and I agreed to put it away until after Thanksgiving, so we can truly enjoy it for all its yuletide glory. What amazed me is how much SHE wanted open it- Might be able to convert her after all Quote
Rapseflaps Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I got my copy from Shop@Home on Wednesday. It's sitting built on my desk now. It's really nice and I especially like the Christmas tree. No doubt it'll look great together with the Winter Village Bakery. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Not long after posting in this thread a few days ago, I wound up catching it on Amazon during one of its windows of availability, and ordered two - one for myself and one for my girlfriend, who's wanted it ever since I first showed it to her online not long after I started getting her "into" LEGO. We were both a bit upset over missing out on it last year, and we're both really excited to be finally getting it at a price we can afford. I can't wait! Quote

I'll be ordering the Bakery on the day it comes out, assuming I can wait that long. I would've gotten it either way though, because my Mom really likes bakerys and things like that, so I'm going to build it and take it over to show her when I can come back from school. -Santhor Quote

Huzzah! A part of me was a little anxious and still inclined not to believe it until we actually had the sets in our custody, but arrive they did. I feel very lucky to have gotten it for its regular price so many months after it sold out so quickly here in the US from Shop at Home. We're both excitedly waiting to build it (which we'll do closer to Christmas, naturally), and both looking forward to the Winter Village Bakery. Quote
Hey75 Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Guys should i get the winter toy shop or the creator 6754 family house , which will make a nice fit into the city. Please give me some advise, Thanks. Quote
Santhor Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 Guys should i get the winter toy shop or the creator 6754 family house , which will make a nice fit into the city. Please give me some advise, Thanks. Hard to say, because I only have the Winter Toy Shop. I'd give it five stars though. The only downside is semi-complicated instructions. Do you mean the City Family Home/City House, or a creator one? Because if you're looking for several detailed minifigs, get the Toy Shop. -Santhor Quote

Please give me some advise, Thanks. 6754 is a great set, but Winter Toy Shop is a legend. You might argue it's one of the most important sets TLG has released in the last three years. Plus You'll probably be able to pick up the Family House later on the secondary market still at a fairly low price, but the Toy Shop will probably only climb in market value over the years. If you ask me, it's a no-brainer. Quote

Please give me some advise, Thanks. Depends on your city... what I'm planning is a fairly modern city, suburb (with that house, plus the Apple Tree House and going down to a beach area I have several beach houses), but the Toy Shop doesn't really fit in that. I suppose if I have room (doubtful) I could have more of an "old town" section where some of the Christmas stuff would work. As for now, the Toy Shop (and soon to be bakery) is in a box labeled "Christmas LEGO" which comes out for the season (along with some trains) and gets displayed near the tree. Both sets have a lot of merit, it's impossible for someone else to decide which will work better for you. BTW, if you like that 6754, could I recommend some of these: (in red, of course). It makes a huge difference in the final appearance. EDIT: In other words: get both, but if you can only get one now, get the toy shop. Edited August 25, 2010 by fred67 Quote
Zanki Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 I got the toy shop on Sunday and its one of my favourite sets. I have a lot of buildings but this one is beautiful, puts the creator houses to shame. Quote
