workfromtheheart Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 (edited) This is my very first attemt to build a space ship. I felt challenged by the GHL contest, so I just started building and this is the result. More on Flickr, or www.mocsfromtheheart.com. Edited August 13, 2010 by workfromtheheart Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Great dropship look to your space transport , but how do those thrusters work ? Nice detail, but not over done 'workfromtheheart' - great work and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Baylego Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Cool ship! This one has the same color scheme as the cargo ship I made earlier today. I really like how you did the thrusters. I hope to see more spaceships from you! Quote
Fires-storm Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Well done, this is an amazing ship! My favorite parts are the wings and thrusters Quote
Apollo Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 This ship is really smooth and the dynamics are very flowing! My favorite sections are the wings (specifically the placement of the navigation lights) and the thrusters in the back! It is very original and creative! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Very interesting and unique design, 'workfromtheheart'. Just like them, I love the wings and the rear wheel-type thrusters. Btw, I so love the crystal-clear photos, how I wish I could make mine the same. <envious> Quote
workfromtheheart Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 Btw, I so love the crystal-clear photos, how I wish I could make mine the same. <envious> I take a couple of white papersheets and used that for back- and underground. Take the pictures in good daylight (4 or 5 pm is most perfect). Let photoshop do the rest. (And luck is also very important). Quote
Masked Builder Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Wow. This is so different from the way I interpreted my ship. Thought still very cool. I like the black ring on the back of the ship. Quote
workfromtheheart Posted August 16, 2010 Author Posted August 16, 2010 It is indeed very different. But I like your interpertation as well. It's lots of fun how two different people can build such different creations, by looking at the same object. Quote
brickmack Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Cool. Are the plate parts on the thrusters attached to the rest of the thruster by anything or just the rubber bands? Seems like it would come apart if it was just rubber bands. Quote
workfromtheheart Posted August 16, 2010 Author Posted August 16, 2010 No, just the rubber bands, but it holds very nicely. (Buy not suitable for play, but that's not why I build...) Quote
Plastemaurer Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 This is a really nice ship you created there, 'workfromtheheart'. I really like the wings and the cockpit is also very well made. However, i'm not so keen on the thruster wheels on the stern. Somehow the idea of attaching bricks only with rubber bands doesn't feel right to me. But as a whole, this is a really nice design. Where did you get the chrome 1x1 round plates? They are great. Quote
workfromtheheart Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 Not just any rubber bands, but real LEGO rubber bands ;-) The chrome 1x1's come from the Titan XP set. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I take a couple of white papersheets and used that for back- and underground. I do those things also - white back- and underground, daylight photoshoot, but I can't quite get your high quality photos. Well I guess, I need to improve my lighting or even purchase a better performance camera, or maybe I just don't have the luck that you have. Quote
Blackicep8ntball Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Very nice ship, and great photography. I love dropships - the very first MOC I built was a dropship for a contest too, although it wasn't up to this quality. You've developed a nice color scheme for it, and the overall design is very effective. Good luck on your contest! Quote
