What sort of sticker material should I use for custom designs?

I am going to make a bunch of custom stickers.

What sort of sticker material should I use to get the best results? (something like what TLG uses when they make stickers would be great)

I have tried to make some stickers before using some ink-jet mailing labels but it didnt turn out very well (the labels I bought were nominally transparent but were actually only translucent and looked crap)

I am not interested in actual decals because decals are for things that are intended to be permanent and the parts I am making will not be permanent.

Vinyl and/or polyester, take a look at our site. We use that. It is quite difficult however and momentarily I'm too busy to have enough time for the site etc.
