Hey all,

It appears that there is not yet a South Carolina LUG group in place. As a citizen of that fine state, I'm interested in starting one, or if there is one that I'm unaware of, joining one. Sooo...

Does anyone know of an SC group? I know there are some general "southern" LUGs (i.e. DixieLUG), but I'm looking for something that meets closer to home.

It there is not one yet, anyone else out there who would be interested in starting one/joining one?

Thanks!

No replies, eh?

I'm in the Metro Atlanta area, and even though there's this DixieLUG, which I didn't even know about until I read your post, it doesn't seem very active. The Yahoo group for that club hasn't had a new post for months, and the blog site doesn't have any information about meetings or joining. Last posts are from May.

I've been trying to join North Georgia LEGO Train Club, but they don't really seem to maintain their schedule on their website very well, either, and I was told to just go to an event and talk with them. The only thing on their schedule was last March.

There's a train show this weekend they might be at, but as usual, the kids are getting in the way... normally I'd have Saturday afternoon open, but oh no, not this weekend! Hopefully I'll get a couple of hours in the afternoon to take a look... but I don't even know if they will be there.

Haha yup no replies till yours. That might explain the lack of an SC LUG, eh?. You're right about the DixieLUG, doesn't seem very active. Keep me updated on the train show, and if you don't mind, keep your eyes open for anyone from SC! Thanks for the info, fred67.

How far is NCLUG from you? They are an amazing LUG.

Is NCLUG in Charlotte? if so, it's maybe 1.5 hours or so. Not bad, but if there was potential interest in starting a group in SC, I would still be interested in doing that because people from the lower part of the state would have a much longer drive to get to Charlotte.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread. I was looking for the same thing recently and would be interested in starting one up as well. Let me know what I can do to help!

I know this is an old thread, but thought I'd add my two cents.

I'm a member of NCLUG, and our official meetings are in Raleigh. There is also a LUG in Charlotte, but I'm not sure if they go by NCLug or not. Brad (who I think is the manager of the LEGO store there) is in charge of that.

I'm not aware of any LUGs in SC, but there very well could be some that I'm unaware of. I don't recall seeing a SC group at any of the shows.

thanks for the info. I know NCLUG is very active and would love to be able to get up that way for meetings and events. I was going to try and go to the Lego store in Charlotte sometime in Feb. It is about three hours away but will ask at the store if they know anything.

next question I guess is, how do I start a SCLug? Searching other forums, I have found a couple others people in the state, but the post are a couple years old. I am more of a "build it and they will come" kind of guy and really haven't met any other adult fans in the area
