GRogall Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Dang, found another one! Sadly only small pics for now..... Quote
prateek Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I would prefer tan heads over 1x1 rounds, but at least we get tan skellies. Quote
vexorian Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 (edited) Tan skeletons. TAN SKELETONS!! Although I am not sure what to think about the "Exclusive" word in that red circle. I hope the set is available... I am noticing NinjaGo has too many of these exclusive things. It would be such a turn off if half the theme is not available in most stores ... Edit: Now I bet that set is going to be popular among AFOLs. It has the skellies, but also, take a look at it, there is nothing in it that reminds you of the undead, technocrat enemies. This set would work 100% as a historical training place. Edited December 12, 2010 by vexorian Quote
Darth Jar Jar Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 (edited) Oh yes tan skellies I was wondering what happened to this set Edited December 12, 2010 by Darth Jar Jar Quote
prateek Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Although I am not sure what to think about the "Exclusive" word in that red circle. I hope the set is available... I think the exclusive signs we are seeing on these sets are about the minifigs and spinners. If you look at this set, you'll see it says exclusive Dragon Ninja and spinner, which means the ninja and the spinner are only available in that set. They do the same things with other toys, like action figures. Say, for example, there is a playset, and there is a action figure that's only available in that play set, then on the box it will say Exclusive figure!!! Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Thanks 'grogall' for the great pictures again, I already said in the Aussie Sales area this is a TRU exclusive...well at least in the land of Oz. It does appear to be a cool build and playset with some interesting pieces....hmmm, depending on the reviews I might get some of this theme. Keep on spinning ! Quote
Masked Builder Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Okay! I need that Ninja! Great dragon print on him. Those skeletons look slick too. Quote
Aanchir Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Those skeletons could also be very popular because they're the old-style (wobbly-armed) skeletons, not either of the new-style skeletons. Very nice overall, and I like the use of flex cable to create a smooth, curved edge for the "arena". I'm also intrigued by the pins on the edges-- perhaps an incentive to get multiples of this set? Or maybe there will be other sets with pins on the edge, so you can join several sets together into a full arena? Also, bless my heart, there's a life counter from the 2009 BIONICLE sets being used inside the barrel there. Obviously, it maintains its role as a scoring method-- perhaps to see how many skeletons you can take out in one spin? Doesn't seem too practical, since you'd have to reset it anytime. Unless-- and this is getting really radical-- the point of the pins on the sides is for multiple people to join up their individual copies of the sets and try to take out their opponents' skeleton "dummies" rather than their own. Oky Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Tan skeletons. TAN SKELETONS!! What's so great about tan skellies? I know they look like yellowed versions of the normal white skellies, but without heads, they will not be very useful. I bet that set is going to be popular among AFOLs. It has the skellies, but also, take a look at it, there is nothing in it that reminds you of the undead, technocrat enemies. This set would work 100% as a historical training place. Good point, not to mention it comes with a heap of weapons and other good parts for a set of this size. Yes, this set will surely be sought after. Let's hope the price will be good (though I have little hope if it's indeed a TRU exclusive). Yes, but these are Lego sets, not action figures. Look again: The word "exclusive" is separated from the rest with a line, and it says "Dragon Ninja and spinner included" as a new sentence. Quote
Aanchir Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 What's so great about tan skellies? I know they look like yellowed versions of the normal white skellies, but without heads, they will not be very useful. Tan skeleton heads wouldn't be any use anyway without face prints. And let's face it-- as dummies, they certainly wouldn't have any (or at least, not authentic-looking ones). However, tan minifig heads do exist with other prints (the Tusken Raiders from Star Wars spring to mind), so customizers will be able to make "authentic-looking" skeletons. And making a custom decoration for a piece is a lot easier than re-molding a piece in a new color. Removing a decoration from a piece is even easier. The only limitation left, then, is that there aren't sets out currently that have tan heads-- and certainly Bricklink is popular enough in this day and age that this shouldn't hinder most people. Ralph Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I would prefer tan heads over 1x1 rounds, but at least we get tan skellies. Tan skeleton heads would have been nice. Ralph Quote

Or maybe there will be other sets with pins on the edge, so you can join several sets together into a full arena? The Spinjitzu Dojo and the Nija Training Outpost sets also have pins on their edges. I guess you can connect all three to create a larger training centre. Quote
Baylego Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 The little yellow stripe on the side says Special Edition, so I figure it will only be available in a certain store, preferably not Wal Mart. I think this is the Skeletal Bowling set that was mentioned earlier. Quote
Bfahome Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Unless-- and this is getting really radical-- the point of the pins on the sides is for multiple people to join up their individual copies of the sets and try to take out their opponents' skeleton "dummies" rather than their own. Well it seems to use the three-pointed SYSTEM connector things in such a way as to let three attach in a full hexagon. That's actually pretty dang cool. Quote
Arigomi Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 The lack of cards for a set which supposedly has an exclusive dragon ninja and spinner is puzzling. Quote
Aanchir Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 The lack of cards for a set which supposedly has an exclusive dragon ninja and spinner is puzzling. Good observation. Perhaps it does have cards, and simply doesn't make a point of advertising it on the box? After all, not all the boxes seem to mention the cards. Although you'd think it would when the other special edition set just threw it onto the "contents" bubble along with the mention of minifigs and weapons... Quote

Corydoras Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Jay DX with dragon printing is only available in this one, eh? It means the rumored Lightning Dragon set is a big lie. Quote
Ogre Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 (edited) Jay DX with dragon printing is only available in this one, eh? It means the rumored Lightning Dragon set is a big lie. Looking at the pic again, another possible meaning: that particular figure with spinner is exclusive to that set. Look at the way it's set up: "Exclusive" on it's own, then the line and then "dragon ninja & spinner", or something like that. Indicating perhaps that it's the coupling of 'specific ninja + spinner' that is exclusive to that set. Edited December 13, 2010 by Ogre Quote
r4-g9 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 from toysnbricks: I found 2259 Skeleton Chopper at TRU metrotown today. It was $19.99 and the only one on the shelve. Maybe they put it out too early? Quote

Delta 38 Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Dang, found another one! You beat me to it, and with higher resolution images than mine. Oh well. This is good. I want the DX figure and the skeletons, plus the set itself can go well with the others. Maybe you can connect them, which would really help the overall appearance. Something that's made me nervous is the fact that there are a lot of limited edition or rare sets, including the other spinners (DX figures, Nya and Nuckal). This set and the arena set are also in this category, while the ATV isn't in my catalogue. Looks like I'm going to need to hunt a lot for these. Now with the re-emergence of this set, I'm pretty much happy with Ninjago if I can get everything. Of course, if there are new variations of figures or new colours altogether, new waves would be great, but I'm happy with just this wave. Quote
The Crazy One Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Dang, that review 2 pages back made me want them so badly now. Oh dear, I thought I had escaped this line! The one thing that bothers me is the skeleton spinners not using the new arms. I hope TLG put in the new arms as spares but that is so unlikely. Quote
Darth Jar Jar Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) In some ways I want this theme to do badly so then I could get all the skeletons and sets cheap but then we would not get new waves. I would rather have new waves though so we can add more skeletons and ninjas to my collection Also on the tan skellie set anyone noticed on the top off the box art where they usually show the minifigs there are weapons.
