And... The new site's out, as lame and immature as ever

Wait... what do you mean it's out? All we've got are all four sections of the teaser site. The regular site probably won't be out for a while, and will have the same things you expect of a LEGO website-- for instance, specific "Products" and "Downloads" sections.

Also, I believe you mean AWESOME and AWESOME.

I meant the site is put up on the front page and when you click the products section.

rumored US prices: the Chopper/motorcycle $10.00 ,the dragon $20.00 ,Garmadons Fortress $80.00 ,the Turbo Shredder $30.00, the small sets $7.00-$12.00, the Dojo 40.00-50.00.

impossible on the first one at least. compare it to technic motorcycles, even creator motorcycles. now remember it's a theme set with two premium quality figures. More likely $20, or $15 is as much as I can hope for (like the atlantis trike -that's possible)

and I dunno I guess and hope turbo shredder is $30 but I'd think again, 5 to 10 dollars higher from the substance of the set and current pricing on comparable sets. $30's still believable though

Good observation! So, in the Ninjago franchise there is going to be:

Spinning tops

Trading cards

System playsets

A Brickmaster book

A videogame

A boardgame

A movie

Anything I missed?

you missed a sensi wu key chain, and a card holder.

I vote Ninjago as the weirdest theme LEGO has ever made.

They made a horrible time traveling one before...

Anyhow, It seems like lots of 2011 sets have been discovered throughout the world but I haven't heard a thing about seeing any Ninjago sets.

Has anyone seen and bought any yet?

Is there a pic of this keychain? I haven't heard about it. :look: And what do you mean by card holder? Those two bricks and a plate that come with each spinner pack?

Oh c'mon, it wasn't that bad. I really liked them as a kid because they really sparked my imagination (and because I had recently seen BTTF when they came out  ). And even though the two themes share some aspects (strange vehicles, skeletons as baddies, a wide color palette), NinjaGo is much weirder than TimeCruisers since it also includes ninjas, dragons, and a martial art involving giant spinning tops. So yeah, I vote for NinjaGo too. It might be interesting to open an actual poll for this.

I hope you realize the redundancy of that question. It's just like one of those "Any news yet?"-posts. If anyone would have managed to get any of these sets, they probably would've gloated about it already.

Let's hope the NinjaGo event at TRU this weekend is indeed a type of launch party. I'll try to attend it and will report back if I do.

Sorry, I guess it is a redundant question, And what is BTTF? Still trying to figure it out...

I agree that Time Cruisers were ok but I just have a thing with them because I think their horrible reaction from the majority might be one of the reasons why Dr Who might not be made a Theme... :sceptic:

Anyhow I didn't know about the NingaGo event, is it also in TRU Canada?

That's also a redundant question. Does Back To The Future ring a bell?

No, the reason is that a flying boat with wheels makes a way more interesting time machine than a friggin phone booth!

I doubt it, but it wouldn't hurt to call and ask your local store.

I approve if you're ripping on doctor who, but stay off my Bill and Ted

Hey I wanna build one of those little bricky polar bears

Hey!

I think Doctor Who would make a good theme, though. Sets focused on different episodes and enemies might be nice.

Back on topic...

here you go:

Wow, I didn't notice how different the beard piece was until now. It's made up of... three things (I don't know what else to call it. ) The torso also has a small symbol on it which is usually obscured, which is a bit of a shame as it's not very noticeable, but of course the beard would block it if it were any bigger.

It seems that this theme is featured quite prominently in that calendar. Not surprising given the scale (a card game, collectible minifigs and tops, a rumoured movie and so on).

Well it's really just long beard coming off the chin and 2 sides of a long moustache. What I like about it is you can pair it with virtually any headgear that doesn't have a chin

First set is on Toysrus.com its a little pricey though link

Very pricey. I hope this is just one of TRU's price jacks. This means the sets should start appearing soon though! :sweet:

As I have said before, I doubt the pricing will go down, and it's obvious one of the reasons why the sets are priced so high: the packaging. It's not as expensive as I expected, I'm sure, because the minifig and weapons seen on it are just images, and the actual parts are underneath. Originally I had thought the minifig and weapons would be pre-built and the packaging would be custom-shaped to hold them. But still, specialized blister packaging that displays the tops, cards, and a raised image of the other contents is without question more expensive than regularly-sized and shaped cardboard boxes.

Needless to say, nobody pays for the packaging of a set. But the packaging might convince more kids that the set is worth purchasing-- after all, having a product's contents visible through the packaging is a great way of making your product stand out on shelves. We, being LEGO fans to begin with, will obviously find this and the increased cost that goes with it a reason not to buy the individual figure packs rather than the other way around. But perhaps LEGO has reason to believe this will pay off by inspiring more kids to actually make the investment in these figure packs. In any event, whether or not it actually pays off remains to be seen.

In other news, I can see upon a second glance at the packaging image that among the contents of the plastic packaging is a 2x2 "boat plate" (the round plate with a smooth, curved bottom surface). This is good news because it indicates that the tops can have studs attached to their undersides.
