Thanks 'grogall' for the extra picture....the creator lighthouse....a must for any harbour !

It's big....so is the steering wheel in the little speed boat  and do I spy a new male torso.

Brick On Everyone !

Isn't that steering wheel one of those existing Technic wheel pieces, like on the back of the A-Wing Fighters? Good eyes on the torso, though, Tiger-- of all of these I think I like the Lighthouse the most!

Thanks for the pictures! This is my first comment about the 2011 sets (hehe)

I will start with the smaller speedboat. It is nice and looks very sleek I would compare with 8402 Sports Car which is not a must have but nice to have. I just wish they had did some water accessories like buoys/fish/shark or something. It is a little "plain" IMO so I may/may not pick up.

The Fishing boat is really nice. I compared it with pictures of my past favorite civilian boat 4011 Cabin Cruiser, which I think is nicer. It doesn't seem very "fishing" boat like. It reminds me more of the boats from the Divers line which I really liked. So this one is still nice and I will buy.

Skipping the Speedboat (which I do not like) and onto the Marina. When I first saw it a few days ago I was going crazy but now I have had time to pick at it. Definitely not a Sail N Fly Marina. (hehe) I like it but it seems lacking in construction. I don't think I like the bridge area and would have preferred the whole marina being connected or set up in variety of ways like City Corner could be. I don't like the lime green/orange diver fins??? Dune Buggy/Powerboat/windsurfer is "meh". Diving Flag and "Paradise Cafe" throwback are nice. Lifeguard I will replace with the Collectible Minifigs series 2 lifeguard  I will get this but hesitantly and probably on clearance.

Now for what I think is the strongest set, the Harbor. I love it  It is reminiscent of classic town harbors from the 90s. I wish i had gotten the 07 Harbor so that I could combine the two. I love how it is a grain ship w/weetabix/farm logo. The loading crane and truck are really nice. I also appreciate the harbor office and fisherman. Yes I am getting this one for sure out of all them. :oh:

Wow. The lighthouse is going to be one of the hottest town sets of 2011. It's great in every way - so detailed, and so undone before. I will probly buy this set the first time I see it.

The harbor is nice too. Looks like a cross between the old Auto Shop, Public Works Center (80's), and Atlantic Seaport (90's). The one-piece boat hull doesn't quite do it for me, but I will still likely grab one of those.

The Marina I was excited about when I heard about it, but seeing it, it kinda sucks. It's welcome that they attempted a newer marina -- it just could have been so much better and that one is so underwhelming. The stairs and flimsy overpass are silly, and everything else is large panel construction. I will probly not get that one, and just take some ideas from it and build my own.

Well, perusing my local TRU today and I saw the new shuttle. Not bad on price either, $29.99. I regret a bit not picking it up, but I'll have other chances...

Rather gnarly typo, there! Interesting to hear that these sets have started showing up in the US, though. I'm still patiently waiting for the website update...

I showed the pics of the new shuttle to my dad yesterday (along with other pics of upcoming sets), and he actually really likes the nose (just as I do). Which kind of bugs me, because it gives me a harder time convincing myself not to get this set until I've picked up the Shuttle Adventure (or at least some of the parts on Bricklink I'd need to make the fuel tank). Of course, it shouldn't take much to convince me to wait, since my parents brought to college with them my Portal of Atlantis I got for Christmas, so I should have plenty of MOCing parts to play around with this semester (and plenty of shelf space occupied to keep me from thinking "wouldn't this look nice there!" ).

Saw the shuttle too. Seems like a reasonable price point, but I would've loved to have seen a few more astronauts. I guess that can be easily remedied with the upcoming astronaut impulse set, plus then you'd get a satellite to go up with your space shuttle.

Didn't buy it though-- took advantage of the BOGO to get the now-clearance 7642 City Garage and the 5766 Creator Log Cabin at a really nice combined price.

I think my next plans involve saving up some capital for Series 4, and keeping a sharp eye on the 7636 Combine Harvester, which in my prediction should be going on clearance within the next month or so at the local TRU. It's never been a dream set, but I can get that thing for $25USD it'll be hard to pass up.

I think I'm the odd one out here because I haven't seen any space sets. HOWEVER when I went to WHSmith's this morning they had the 4641 Speed boat on the shelves for £12.00. I didn't buy it because I only had £5 on me at the time. I will pop back later to see if they still have it there default_satisfied.gif

Wow-- I think that's the first news we've heard of any of the new Harbor sets confirmed and released in the wild!

Posted (edited)

It was the only one on the shelf so It may have been put there by mistake.

tbh, £12 for it is an absolute rip-off. In some of the toy fair pictures, it is pictured as costing $4.99. so it really should cost no more than £5 and you should have been able to buy it. I might pop down to my local WHSmiths soon, thanks for the tip-off :P.

But £12 *oh2* You shoulda been able to buy it with 5 quid ;D

And all the Space sets have been in England(thanks to Argos) for like 2 months now!

I wouldn't worry about WHSmith having in for £12. They always up mark sets unmercifully such as the Camper for SALE: WAS £29.99 NOW £19.99 oh2.gif

Really looking forward to hearing some more concrete information about Harbor release dates, stateside or otherwise.

It's hard to imagine TLG offering the Harbor sets this early in North America, simply because it's still relatively cold and unseasonal for most of the continent. It doesn't take a marketing genius to realize that the best time to sell a fishing boat set is in the summer, when dad and his son are talking about going fishing for the weekend. It's just like the holiday sets-- TLG would be pretty stupid to begin selling the next Winter set in mid-July.

That was all revealed at ToyFair in NY. At least, the American release dates. Others may vary slightly.

Over here, all the Harbour sets are due in August. I doubt it'll be very different in other countries, since the leaked retailer's catalogs earlier this year (which tended to go all the way up to April) didn't include them.

Thank you very much for these high-res pictures, grogall! :classic:

City Advent Calendar

This is the worst advent calendar I've seen for years!

In the last years all City advent calendars included a lot of amazing sutff and either I bought them myself or got them for my birthday.

But this one is one I even woulnt'd like to get as a gift!

It is completely family antagonistic (no woman, no kid) and completely Police dominated. There is no single element included (apart from some weird snowmobiles) which we don't get in this year's City sets and Minifigures series anyway.

Power Boat Transporter

The transporter looks like a child's MOC and the boat is (although very well designed) much too huge for that it only fits one or two minifigures.

Fishing Boat

This set could have potential. But it indeed doesn't. The exterior design is partly well done. But why do they always use holes instead of windows?! That looks that ugly! It doesn't seem as if there is some interior downstairs - which is really a shame. The only nice thing is that they included a boy - supposably the only kid minifigure for City in the whole year - which is again completely family antagonistic.

Speedboat :classic:

simple but good looking

Harbor

The peer with the blue-yellow building looks a bit <insert that tiresome argument>. Apart from that I really like the set and even like that TLG found a way to combine the Farm theme with regular City themes. The car looks well designed, but the grain ship looks amazing!

Yacht Harbor :wub::wub:

This is for sure the best set of this whole wave!

Only the coastguard watchtower looks a bit <insert that tiresome argument>. And it's a pity that it seems that the surfer won't have a new T-shirt.

Apart from that I really like the right building - esp. the small cafe and the surf shop - a great idea and a stunning outcome!

Btw:

Since there'll be an exclusive City train set this summer (I don't mean 10219 but 3677), do you think that we'll get another City Exclusive anyway (apart from the modular one)?

I really hope so. We really need some shops!

I totally agree with this, the one thing that could have saved it would have been a RED Parka :cry_happy: instead of the green one.

Has this been pointed out that the new dog is in the set and santa is holding a new bone piece?? Or is that just a "faux" scene.

I also agree with you on this, there was great potential with this boat set, it doesn't really capture a fishing boat IMO, it looks more like a lake pleasure almost speedboat like boat. (there is a shark included so that means ocean fishing  ) To improve it the front is much too sleek for a fishing boat, the helm should be located more toward the front of the boat leaving more deck room in the back. Also I would have liked to see 2 fishing poles on each side and 1 of the new shorter fishing poles from the collectible figs.

I wish they had given us some new torsos in this set too. The bridge is crazy whenever our marinas built over peninsulas? I would have liked more dock space instead of the bridge with a larger surf/rental shop/ 1-2 slips at least for boats, longboards as well as the new shortboard part, a kayak perhaps?

I also hope we get another one  We need more civilian sets, hopefully a Main Street throwback with Hotel/Misc Cafe/Post office maybe? etc

Despite the parka being in an old color, I think the print is new. It seems much more detailed than the ones from the Arctic theme, more on-par with those seen in LEGO Star Wars.

The bone piece is also in this year's police station and the Ninjago theme (where it's on the main villain's helmet).

I personally think the advent calendar is pretty cool-- the more rural-looking police station is a nice touch and something rarely included in mainstream LEGO city-- but I agree that I prefer the variety of last year's with its various toy vehicles, Santa-in-a-shower, and happy family. It's cute to see that convicts during the holiday season aren't up to much besides catapulting snowballs at the cops.

Overall, I tend to prefer generic slice-of-life type stuff rather than explicitly City-related sets, so I doubt I'll be getting this. But my younger brother is a big City fan, so perhaps he'll be more interested. It's not like I tend to buy the advent calendars anyway.

Some stores might have them out in June, but the stated release date is August. I didn't go to ToyFair or anything; I'm just going by the little name-cards seen at ToyFair by each set's display. Those tend to have the most accurate summer-set info you can find this early in the year.

EDIT: Really neat thing on the LEGOspace.com website: last time I checked, there were only four wallpapers in the "Downloads" section, displaying the same minifigure renders that float by on the main site, superimposed on NASA photographs. Today, I checked and there were two more: one of the new Space Shuttle set, and one of the Hubble Space Telescope. The latter probably won't be released as a set, but it's a pretty simple and accurate model regardless. Can't wait for tomorrow's (hopefully) BIG update!

Space set instructions are up on Lego.com, the instructions included small pieces of NASA information and photos as well......dam, stacks of Lego promo shots of city and Star Wars sets too !

I've started downloading !

Ah, were up it crashed as I was trying to download more space instructions and they are now gone ! *oh2*

I have just found this pic on google of the 3 new creator sets...

new creator sets

From that angle, Hillside House seems to be a bit smaller than I expected. I like how they're continuing to add traditional houses to add to a city layout-- but at the same time it's cool to see them diversify this year, first with the smaller Log Cabin and next the amazing LightHouse.

Personally I'm trying to decide what's my favorite 2011 set so far, and I think it's a toss-up between the Lighthouse and the Medieval Windmill set.
