Capt.JohnPaul Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Hi, I've been knew to the Sci-fi forum and I really like steampunk. I've been trying to make some mocs and have made one in LDD, Now I'm trying to get parts. What do you think I should improve? Could some one post pictures of their steampunk mocs? Capt.JohnPaul Quote
TheWarden Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Why not try a search? Flickr has a whole group devoted to it: http://www.flickr.com/groups/24604222@N00/ ( or you can search for LEGO steampunk and get stuff not in groups) or search this forum... or search MOCPages of course. I don't know much steampunk, but it looks a little too blocky, maybe if the feet were a bit smaller or broken up with a sloped area.... and maybe if there were some StP greebles (hoses, enginey areas, more pipes, etc) it would start to get somewhere. Maybe if the hands used a different finger technique (seen mini-fig legs, Exo-Force robot arms, etc) and the other arm used a different drill technique as well... But a nice start to a theme I haven't tackled. Look around and go from there. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Yep I agree with TheWarden, there are a lot of Steampunk creations here in EB as well as all over the net, just take the time to search for them. As for your design, I have to say the design is rather simple and basic, but I don't want to discourage you, that's a decent start and maybe you could find inspiration on other Steampunk creations. I looked through the index and found some and looked nice. Is steampunk bulky or slender and just gears and technic parts with some system bricks? That would help. Unfortunately the computer I have that uses LDD is not starting up..... Capt.JohnPaul EDIT: TheWarden, I have a treasure trove of engine thingies (1x2 flats with those holes) and other steampunk parts. Mainly from the pirates line. I'm also developing a way to attach this one gear sitting in my pile of bricks for years.... Edited August 7, 2010 by Capt.JohnPaul Quote
