I have a number of sets... some quite large, that I would like to sell.

So what do people here do? Do you get large boxes ahead of time? If so, where?

I mean, whether I sell here or open a BL store or sell on Ebay... I guess BL you don't know until afterwards anyway, but on Ebay you usually see the shipping ahead of time, so what do you need to do? I can weigh the box, but unless you actually pack it up, how do you know the total weight? Peanuts are light enough, but they still add weight... as does an outer box.

Where do you get boxes?

Thanks for any advice... I wanted to be able to make shipping as painless and inexpensive as possible, but I don't want to invest a lot into shipping supplies (like scales and such) that I won't use much.

Here, try United States Postal Service flat rate boxes. Clicky!

For the smaller sets... what about a Troll Warship or 4504 Millennium Falcon?

I don't know about now, but it wasn't so long ago that the USPS (Post Office) would be happy to ship priority mail boxs to your door, for free. Basically, you'd get a box containing all of a whatever-sized-boxes you ordered. The boxes are, of course, folded. Of course, the PO is expecting you to use their shipping service. Did I mention the price....free? Of course, in this day, that may have changed.

I do all my shipping w/ the USPS, and I use paypal. You can measure the box, and weigh it, at home. Then you input your information on the calculator, and it spits out a pre-printed postage label. Tape it on, and drop it off at the PO. Try to keep the packing box as small as possible. If you're shipping Lego sets in their original boxes, then good old corrugated cardboard, closely matching the size of the Lego package, should work nicely. You can include a layer of packing peanuts or other packing material, of course. Usually, not not always, it seems the size of the package determines more about the cost than the weight of the package. That could also depend on if you shipping w/in the USA or outside the country.

Good luck. What are you selling? =)

It hasn't changed about the boxes being shipped for free. You can get different size boxes as well, you know

I actually ordered a start set of these boxes, which is supposed to have one of all the different sizes, but when I look online at the measurements, they are way too small, it seems.

'fred67', i am also encountering the same problem. I am trying to sell off some MISB sets to raise some money. however due to posting/packing issues, i can only sell local (btw I am in Singapore).

also sending big MISB boxes tend to sky-rocket the posatge which will in turn scare away any buyers.
