BrickWild Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 A nice LDD creation of a fireplace with an excellent mantlepiece & hearth! Quote
Skull-Mark_Ladybug Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 That certainly looks like quite a generous fire place. But I do think it could be a lot more detailed as it looks rather plain at the moment. I'm sure you could come up with a way to make some nice brickwork, to give it a more impressive look. Quote
Oky Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Yeah, it's a good start, but still incredibly plain. Try adding some texture to the brown part, maybe put something onto the mantlepiece, and add a pattern or something to the wallpaper. By the way, what does "MOD" stand for? Quote
BrickWild Posted August 15, 2010 Author Posted August 15, 2010 By the way, what does "MOD" stand for? My Own Design Quote
Skull-Mark_Ladybug Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 My Own Design Oh I guess that makes sense though I thought we usually go with moc (My Own Creation). I use MOD to describe when someone modifies a set. Quote
Darth Yogi Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Looks nice, I always thought mod was modification and moc was something made by you (my own creation) whatever it is that looks good. nice job Quote
Legostein Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Hello! The lion heads are already a great start to make this an original and individual fireplace design. I'd like to roast some marshmellows now. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
fred67 Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Hey BrickWild! As others have said, it's a great start. The wall is kind of plain... perhaps a painting over the fireplace, or some bookshelves on the side. Having done a lot of castle stuff and experiencing "big gray wall syndrome," I notice the same thing with the chimney... an odd color brick here and there, or a few "studs out" techniques might help. Here's an article related to castle building, but some of the techniques have been "borrowed" from other types of buildings... in other words, the techniques are pretty much universally applicable. But it is a great start... I'd also like to see a couple of comfy chairs... Let us know if you update it! Quote
