Professor Flitwick Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 A city sub-theme I've always wanted, a Zoo. With the wide array of animals available in LDD (more than I own personally ) I decided to try an build one. First up, the Reptile House!. A rather odd roof. I couldn't decide what to put up there, but it fits the bill, I suppose. A Desert Night Lizard. I originally planned to have a snake there, but there were difficulties in trying to place it in the enclosure, even after trying several techniques. A birds eye view of it's cage. Well, if the bird had X-ray vision to be able to see through the roof. A minifig view of it's cage. The view of the frogs a minifigure would get is they were up some sort of ladder. A birds eye view of the frogs. My personal least favourite, the crocodile room. I tried to think of things for his 'habitat', but I feel I rather failed it. From Rags to Riches, my favourite. The rack of meat the Croc feeds on! Any comments? Quote
escortmad79 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Could add a snake tank with the rattlers & one with scorpions too Quote
Flare Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Its not bad, but it seems a tad bit simple. I understand this is LDD not real bricks, but I'm pretty sure you have some tiles on LDD, don't you? And maybe some info signs would be a nice touch too. Quote
Mace Windu Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 I'm currently working on a LDD zoo too. You did a good job but it could be expanded. It could also use some details hereand there. Maybe even some visitors veiwing the reptiles. Quote
eiker86 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 this was lovely =) im gonna build my own zoo =) Quote

I did say that I tried to put a snake down, put there was a problem in LDD. Also, scorpions aren't reptiles, they're Arthropods, and will be featured in an up and coming insect house! XimenaPaulina Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 That's a great start for your zoo Prof! The viewing glass cages are pretty good. I understand the small amount of details due to the limitations of LDD. Maybe your could add a water pool (trans-blue plate/tile) inside the crocodile cage? Quote

I'll probably remake the zoo later on, and I'll keep the indoor pool in mind! Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted August 7, 2010 Author Posted August 7, 2010 Next up, the Aquarium! The whole of the Aquarium, On the far right hand sight, the Dolphin (and a shoal of Fish!), The full on view, The Octopus sitting on his throne, A different view of said event, And something I'm rather proud of. Somethings that could be found at the botton of the sea, just to make him feel at home, Just above of the the Octopus, a small information Kiosk, And finally, the side on view of the Swordfish, complete with meat, and an (artificial) corpse for him to swim through, So. Better, or worse? Rich, or poorer? Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Great aquarium Prof. A very nice addition to your growing zoo. I love the selection of the marine species, but I think you're still missing some (manta ray, shark, the coral leaves/or kelps(?)). I had this grand idea of an aquatic section of a zoo, a viewing tunnel (like the one below). Though I think it's pretty hard to pull-off in LDD, but I would love to see this one in brickform someday, maybe you could try it? Quote

prateek Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I agree with KielDaMan on the tunnel aquarium. The aquarium you built seems more of a portable zoo with small tanks. Quote

Now what we need is an updated version with trans-clear viewing glass, hope someone does it in the near future. On 8/7/2010 at 2:56 AM, prateek said: I agree with KielDaMan on the tunnel aquarium. This looks like a permanent zoo. What I meant was a zoo tour bus kind of thing that has small tanks that are easy to set up. Quote
