Mr Spielbrick Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 (edited) Okay, okay, I need to work on my lighting, I agree. Especially with these shots, taken with my HD video camera. Turns out it's easier to focus than with the photo camera. Also easier to avoid overly bright spots. Anyway, here come merry men, a sinister sheriff and a powermad prince! Robin Hood, the Sheriff of Nottingham and some lovely animals TLC finally made: Friar Tuck, Robin and Little John: Evil prince John with a Joker-esque jester: The Sheriff with a footsoldier: And one more of the noble Robin of Loxley / Locksley: I tried making a Robin who has the classic hat-and-feather, but it looked a lot less serious than this medieval man... Am I too much under the influence of the two latest movies? Am I drifting away from the myth? Speaking of being influenced by the films, the Sheriff's head is Alan Rickman's! It's professor Severus Snape from the Order of the Phoenix Hogwarts castle set. Didn't set out to use that head, but out of all my options this one looked the part. Coincidence? Still working on Maid Marian and Richard the Lionheart, among others. The costumes of Prince John's men are blue with the crown insignia. King Richard's men will be in red-and-white with the lion insignia. Edited July 29, 2010 by Mr Spielbrick Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Very good custom jobs 'Mr Spielbrick' - PoP, SW and fantasy castle are a great combo - the Sheriff and Robin look excellent, as to Little John and the evil Prince John. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
BrickClick Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 This looks great! The combos on these figs are excellent! Please could you tell me what set that torso comes in? I'm guessing a set with some dragon knights. Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 Thank you, kind sirs! You're right BrickClick, the torso is from a dragon knight. I got it from set 7947, Prison Tower Rescue. As you can see here, you could get the torso from other sets too. Quote
Tanotrooper Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 These look great, the new Kingdoms parts fit very well with this theme and Robin. I find the sheriffs' face to be quite accurate. Gaetano Quote
Shroffy123 Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 The Sheriff and Robin Hood look exceptional great! Color Scheme and everything. I don't think you've strayed away from the myth. I believe, and correct me if I am wrong, that Robin Hood was original portrayed in myth as more aggressive and medieval, as opposed to the Hat with feathers. Nice Job! Quote
Captain Becker Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 They are wobderful figs, but i remember at rodin used a bow much more than a sword, or do i remember wrong? Anyway, great work, keep it up Captain Becker Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted July 30, 2010 Author Posted July 30, 2010 (edited) True, captain Becker. I wanted to show his 'costume' in these photos. If he'd held a bow (correctly), it'd be obscuring his torso from view. At least the minifig is wearing a quiver in all pictures and grasping a bow-and-arrow in the second. But it's a good idea to do another pic with the bow! Edited July 30, 2010 by Mr Spielbrick Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Great customs Mr. Spielbrick! The new torso does look good in Robin Hood, as well as Sheriff's. BTW, shouldn't this belong to the MCW? - Since it's focused mainly on custom minifigs. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 As KielDaMan mentioned, creations of only minifigures belong in the MCW, whether they use custom parts or not. Quote
Darth Yogi Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 these look very nice robin hood is my favorite great job Quote
Emperor Claudius Rome Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 These are nice, though I think the Lions would be better for the English. Quote
