MOC: St. Horam West

Having seen all these detailed buildings which I couldn't hope to match, I decided to try something completely different...

This is basically a plan of a fictional town in one of my projects, which is actually modelled after an existing place. All of the buildings, roads and features were committed from memory, and it was just a case of determining how to construct the buildings and which colours to use.

I don't recall how much it cost to build, but it couldn't have been done without the help of at least four BrickLink sellers. Also, although it looks basic, it took a good three hours to construct (following LDD's building instructions).

The use of plain, featureless white with light gray roads gives it a very 'sterile' feel, like in a dystopian futuristic sense. In fact, 'dystopian futuristic' and 'white' brings Mirror's Edge to mind, but this is a wholly different style yet. I actually like the effect there a lot, and the trans-green really adds to that other-worldliness! I'm not sure it was intended that way, but it's incredibly cool.

Thank you very much! I never really thought about dystopia before you mentioned it, but it really is a good description of what I was going for. I guess that's my style.

Now that's different....a micro street scape - very clever indeed !

Looks like something a town planner would use to view what a street or new housing estate might look like.

Nicely done micro street scape SilentMode. At first I thought it was a little plain for me, but after knowing it's for a 'dystopian' effect now it really makes sense and looks rather good.

One thing I'm particularly pleased about was the decision to make the roofs white to match the buildings. If I wanted to go through Design By Me, I would have had to make them red.
