MdrnMrvls Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 After another idea generating trip to the U.P. (mainly the Calumet area), I decided to take on a church. This build used nearly all of my basic brown bricks. The white bricks I had to use as much as possible so that I made sure this thing would get done. I started working on this about a week ago now, and it's finally completed. I hope you all enjoy! For more pictures, please head on over to Flickr. Enjoy! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Very nice American styled church 'MdrnMrvls' - it has that small town feel to it ! Excellent designing and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Fires-storm Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Well done mate, an excellent design! I like the detailing on the tower, and for me the white details really sell it. Quote
gotoAndLego Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 The tower has such nice details that the smaller building looks flat by comparison. The roof should be more than just flat plates and the walls need to have a little depth to them. Looks great otherwise. Quote
Tycho McKorley Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I really like it. I've never see brown and white combined in such an aesthetically pleasing way. Quote
dr_spock Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Nice work. I like your design of the steeple. Quote
zeki Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 This is a very nice MOC! I love all the details and the roof on the tower! a++ Quote

XimenaPaulina Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 I love the design of the church, very true to the real American-style churches. The tower is great as well as the brown-white color scheme. Great job MdrnMrvls! Quote
BlueBard Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Wonderful job as usual, MdrnMrvls! Love this smart church of yours, remarking two especially nice details, the bell tower and that great american flag Quote
Davey Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Great work on this and I really love the subtle use of the "log" bricks to give the walls some texture and avoid the "big empty wall syndrome". Well done. As lightningtiger mentioned, you have nailed the "small town" feel and I could see this church in any city up in the UP. I've spent some time up there in the past racing around the logging roads near Houghton & Copper Harbor and every town has a small church like this. Awesome work! -Davey Quote

Love this smart church of yours, remarking two especially nice details, the bell tower and that great american flag Thanks a lot Bluebard! That American flag was pretty tough to make as my supply of tiny red and white pieces was VERY slim. That's cool you've been to the U.P. as well, it's absolutely fantastic up there. I've been going up there for the last 7 years (3 in the Keewanaw) and it was about time I built a church. Your compliment means a lot, thanks. Edited July 29, 2010 by MdrnMrvls Quote
