Hi all,

I'm getting a little frustrated trying to load and view some of the more complex LDraw files.. here are the steps I've taken:

-I've installed ldraw with both official and unofficial parts to c:\ldraw

-ran mklist

-installed mlcad, the first time it complained that it was missing a whole bunch of part files, so I reinstalled everything, and now it seems to only be missing ls40, ls70, etc. which I believe are lsynth files, so I'm not too concerned..

-when I export as images with mlcad, in the case of Jurgen's excellent yellow and red cars, around the middle somewhere it adds the entire front 1/3 of the vehicle in one step, and the instructions for building it are in a (much) later step.

-when I use LDview, it does the same thing, only it doesn't even add the front bumper in as extra steps later.

-when I use LPub, it complains about the lsxx.dat files being missing AND part 32123, which I can't find any reference to anywhere.

-when I use leocad, even more pieces are missing, ie. the remote, rear wheels, etc.

does anyone have any recommendations for what I may be doing wrong?

About that part: it is unofficial: http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptscan.cgi?q=32123

But you can download it and put it in your parts directory. You may not be too concerned about missing files but apparently the software NEEDS it for some reason. I'm a software engineer and although it might be not very neat, now and then some references are included for certain reasons and might just be needed for some purposes. So my advise is fix those errors first and then let's see what the next challenge will be.

B.t.w. topic should be placed here I guess: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showforum=128

LS**.dat files are LSynth-files used for generating flexibvle axles & electric wires. Installing LSynth should solve missing LS-parts-problem.

I don't know what exactly is wrong with your MLCad. I also use MLCad, LPub & LDView and they don't seem to have any problems with my files. I can send you missing part-files if you like, you can mail me at jurgenstechniccorner@hotmail.com.

I did use some files, which weren't in the official & unofficial library, they were downloaded from the partstracker at www.ldraw.org. And I manually added a lot of parts to the parts.lst-file, which is in the LDraw-directory. I can send you my parts.lst file if you like. It may solve some problems.

woops, didn't see there was a cad forum.

Neither did I- will have to keep an eye on that one...

From your description I get the impression you used the "all-in-one" installer from the LDraw website which is very outdated: most programs have moved up one or even two versions.

You may want to have a look at this tutorial and the rest of the pages on this site: http://www.holly-wood.it/mlcad/setup-en.html

I couldn't get LDraw installed (Using 64bit Windows Vista, Error upon opening the instal file, Non compatible Windows.)

And so i couldn't use MLcad.

But i solved my issue by installing LDraw in a different way, And MLcad is now up and running.

Edit:

I relize my post doesn't help the topicstarter. Sorry for that.

nah, I installed ldraw, the pieces, and unofficial pieces from individual downloads.
