WetWired Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I thought I'd post some WIP images of my Modular Costume Shop I had the idea of using a modular building as an excuse to use all the collectible minifigs from series 1 and I figured a costume\disguise shop would fit perfectly. I'd appreciate any feedback and suggestions for improvements. I've made a few changes to this since I took these photos, the main one being remaking the tree from scratch and adding a lamppost outside. The other changes were minor and don't warrant a mention. I'm not completely happy with the floor detail upstairs but I don't have enough tile pieces to cover it all in one consistent colour :( Quote
Notorious Guf Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I think you have done a wonderful job! Great idea for using the Collectible Minifigs. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 AWESOME 'WetWired' I really like the interior of this creation - beautiful ! The outside is COOL as well, great work and I'm a conformist! 'WetWired' I'm a conformist! ! Quote
BlueBard Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Great job, really! I especially like the roof section and the statue upon the entrance, and of course, the idea of displaying the new MFs Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Great MOC WetWired! Although the color scheme is not as colorful as other modular buildings, I actually like the choice of grey and white, very realistic IMO. And of course, the details are just amazing, something you would expect from an official modular building (even better). Nice use of the collectible figs too. Quote
BrickClick Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Fantastic MOC! I love the windows up on the roof and great use of the collectible minifigures Great job! Quote
Fires-storm Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Oh my, this is lovely! I like the detail of the upstairs tiles actually, it looks like you put down a carpet, which is a very nice touch This is a truly beautiful building, it would look perfect as a set Quote
prateek Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Awesome! The interior is great BTW, I think your pics need better lighting, so we can see the smaller details Quote
gotoAndLego Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 This is a great idea and would be a great way to build out the interior of Grand Emporium as well as your great building. Quote
The Player Nº1 Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Great MOC. Love the interior details, and the windows on the roof. Regards Quote
SilentMode Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Absolutely sweet. I wish I could build like that. Quote
WetWired Posted July 25, 2010 Author Posted July 25, 2010 Thanks guys, I'm still not 100% happy with it though, I think I might try making the lower level 1 brick higher, to me it seems a bit imbalanced to me ATM. I will take better pictures soon, I'm getting the fire brigade set for my 31st birthday from my wife on the 3rd of august so I've given myself until then to finish this building, then I will take some better photos with all my buildings together. lgorlando Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Wow! This gave me butterflies just looking at it! So nice! Love: The Skylight The Stairs (entrance and enterior) The lobby The overall concept is brilliant! Quote
greg3 Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 A clever idea to use the minifigs and brilliantly executed!! I really like the building - the details are perfect both inside and out... nice work! Quote
Mrcool1804 Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 I think you did a great job! I would buy this! Quote
Vincent Kessels Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 That is a great looking building. I love the colors on the outside. I would indeed make the lower level one or two bricks higher. This would also allow you to make the green and white sun shades a bit bigger. Quote
WetWired Posted July 26, 2010 Author Posted July 26, 2010 That is a great looking building. I love the colors on the outside. I would indeed make the lower level one or two bricks higher. This would also allow you to make the green and white sun shades a bit bigger. I raised it up 1 brick yesterday afternoon, it looks much better, you can see the arches underneath the awnings now. I can't make the awnings any bigger or raise the first floor any higher though as I'm running out of pieces :( It's amazing though building this, as I look down in my pieces and see that I only have 1 pieces of a certain type left, I put it on, and then that's it, I don't need any more and I've used them all up. That's happened to me numerous times on this build and it is always very satisfying and feels like fate at play :) Quote
peterab Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I really like this, and would love to have built something like this myself. I'm not sure about the blue roof section though, as this building looks a bit Victorian to me so a flat facade would be more appropriate. That could be because my city is full of Victorian Italianate buildings though :-) The skylight and the air-conditioner clash with the period building, but that reflects reality. Great idea to display the figs. Quote
