MightySlickPancake Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Review: 30070 - Toy Story promo Set Title: Alien Space Ship Set: 30070 Theme: Toy Story Pieces: 25(not including minifig) Minifigures: 1 Year of Release: 2010 Price at Release: £2.99 (free with Tesco promotional offer) Brickset: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=30070-1 The review It looks like an average polybag(I think thats what you call it) not much interesting here. Front of the bag. Nothing at all Toy Story like on the back. Woody and Buzz in the corner of the bag. Closer picture of the set. The first instrucions page. Back page of the instrucions showing some advertising of other sets. "Now, what can i do with this pile of bricks?" "Ahh, my head" The alien fig. Not that intersting. More shots. Spares. Just two tiles, a cheeser and a lever. Fits well with other sets. RATINGS Parts: 4/10 - nice to get free(ish) stuff but not much here. Design: 3/10 - I know its only small but a bit more inventiveness please TLG. Minifigures: 10/10 - Yay, cant have too many aliens. Playability: 5/10 - All its got is the swoosh factor. Price: 7/10 - Too much for a little set. Overall: 8/10 - I love legos promos and want more especially Toy Story. Thanks for reading hope you enjoyed it. "Look sir, I am only arresting you on suspiction of being green" Until next time, CB Quote
-JD- Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Great review! Pity this isn't available in Toys R' Us as it is in the US. I like your last photo. Quote
prateek Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Nice review. The set isn't as good as the Buzz promo, but it's still nice Quote
dr_spock Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Thanks for the review. I bought one at the local Canadian TRU for $4.99. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Thanks for the review; these efforts are always appreciated. That said, I am a little mystified at a couple comments in the piece: It looks like an average polybag(I think thats what you call it) not much interesting here. The alien fig. Not that intersting. Really? Seriously? The Toy Story Pizza Planet alien, not that interesting? I find it incredibly charming, surely one of the more interesting minifigures to debut this year. I also am unsure how to reconcile that assessment with the following one from your ratings: Minifigures: 10/10 - Yay, cant have too many aliens. I agree, but you give a 10 out of 10 score to a minifigure you find uninteresting? Still, nice pics and all. I was thinking of reviewing it myself, but now that there are at least two reviews here already it seems kind of unnecessary. I will note I love the set and have gotten three so far, and will probably pick up more. Yay aliens! Yay Pizza Planet! Yay Toy Story! Quote
MightySlickPancake Posted July 25, 2010 Author Posted July 25, 2010 @ Blondie-Wan, all I ment was not that interesting to make loads of pictures about as we all know what it looks like. I didnt mean I hate them I adore them and good for loads of space mocs. I agree you need loads of these. Hope I cleared up my rushed review for you Thanks, CB Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Ah, Ok. Sorry; no offense intended. I would absolutely love a slew of them. It's too bad they're (presumably) available in the US only at Toys 'R' Us; I suspect this set would be $2.99 or $3.49 from Target or from LEGO itself, rather than the $3.99 they cost at TRU - still quite affordable in small numbers, but the extra fifty cents or dollar or so per polybag really adds up if one wants to get vast quantities of them (though perhaps that's just as well, since it may prevent AFOLs from scarfing up all of them and leaving none for children). Oh, well. I do still intend to get at least a few more, if I can. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 A tiny Buzz Lightyear spaceship.......I wonder if the Claw gave the little green guy the ship as a present ? Thanks for the review 'crabboy329' - but you are right.....Lego could have been a little more creative, but for a freebie ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
