My son a few days ago created something on LDD.

He tried to load it today.

Computer said 'Unable to load file' & 'Parsing of the file was aborted due to an error in the file'.

Anyone experienced this or know what this means?

Has he changed the colour of any bricks via the paint tool? Or maybe he's using LEGO Universe Mode. Either way, this renders the creation to be uploaded. To eliminate the problem, you may have to rebuild it on the plain old LDD, and I am unable to help you to fix it if he's used the paint tool.

Hope this helps :classic:

Thanks for the quick reply Hawkboy4!

He didn't think he used the paint tool.

Not sure what you mean by Lego Universe mode.

We just downloaded the LDD a few days ago. He opened it and chose a starter model to work from in Design By Me.

Anyway, he's just designed another model and it does reopen after closing LDD.

Thanks ayway for your help.

Does the name of the file have punctuation in it? That notice came up when I used apostrophes and hyphons in the name. I don't know if that's the cause, but I haven't had the problem since I stopped using punctuation in the titles. It also makes it easier to upload to Brickshelf as that doesn't accept certain symbols either.

Hope that helps! :classic:

Thanks for the reply ADHO15.

There was a hyphen in the file name, so maybe that's why.

The new creation he made today has no such punctuation, he prefers the new creation, and it reloads fine.

So, we'll stop using punctuation!

I continue with ADHO15's ideas:

Does the name have an ampersand (&) in it. There is a known bug that files with that character will cause the error you get.

If this is not the problem, then can you

1) Post the exact file name of the LDD creation here.

2) Upload the LXF-file to some file sharing site (or if you PM me you can mail it)

Thanks Superkalle, there was also an '&' in the file name as well as a hyphen. Doubly cursed it seems! Anyway all is well now, as my son prefers his new design and the file reloads fine (no '&' or '-' in it).
