ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 So I was thinking about it, and wondered what people thought was the best sub-theme (Western, Ninja, Black Nights, Fantasy era, ect) I would have to say that I love the forestmen sets . They look so great. Probably the best "classic" subtheme. Admittedly, I also am liking the new Kingdoms theme. I think that they did a great job, and gave fans what they wanted (after rainbow knights and trolls and skeletons). But I am hoping that TLG will delve into the non-castle area like *coughforestmencough* and others. So what do you think? Quote
prateek Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I love Ninjas and Western, mostly because I love ninjas and cowboys Quote
Artifex Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I really like the new Kingdoms line, but ltes face it: it needs the Forestmen badly! Quote
Jacob C. Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I really like the new Kingdoms line, but ltes face it: it needs the Forestmen badly! I definitely agree, a new Forestmen or Wolfpack line would be a great compliment to the Kingdoms theme. Overall, my favorite sub-theme is the Wolfpack. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 It seems to me you are mixing together Castle subthemes and other Historic themes. I personally do not consider Western (as well as Vikings and Ninja to an extent) a subtheme. I don't think there has been a topic exactly like this in a while, but if it turns into just another place to wish for your favourite theme to return, I'll probably lock it or merge it into another thread. Well, subtheme of "historic themes". Quote
Cpt. Dan Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I think Wolfpack was the best subtheme. It was a shame they didn't develop it more, I think it had a great story line and interesting figures and sets. Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 To me Ninja and Western are their own themes. It wasn't under the "Castle" or "Kingdom" brand like Forestmen and Wolf Men. I like Fantasy Castle the best, then Wolfmen and Forestmen, both of which are needed in the boring Kingdoms theme. Plus I think Wolfmen would be really cool with some of the crazy new helmets that Space Police has introduced. The spikey one would fit the theme well. Quote
xyxstradus Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I really miss the forestmen sets :( I bought a few of the forestmen from the series 1 minifig to make my older forestmen feel less lonely :P Quote
Nikola Bathory Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 For me, without any doubt: Forestmen (Robin Hood) Wolfpack Both are great, their sets too, their story and background in the Castle world too. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 For me it's the new Kingdoms and the old Wild West and Forestmen themes, with the new collectable minifigs maybe they might come back. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Hive Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 I'd have to agree with the many people saying Forestmen. And I think it's only a matter of time before LEGO will bring them back in some way or another. Quote
blueandwhite Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 As others have said, the Forestmen are my favourite sub-theme. While most castle sub-themes are simply different factions, the Forestmen added a unique spin on the castle line. I loved the classic take on the Robin Hood legend and the introduction of bandits and outlaws into the LEGO world. It was also nice to see some trees and foliage in the LEGO universe. I would also have to agree that other themes (Ninja, Vikings, Wild West, etc.) can't really be considered sub-themes. These are their own distinct lines and shouldn't be relegated to a secondary status like that. Quote
karl1 Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 My favorite subtheme is fantasy like orcs and dwarfs. After that my second wild be peasants and workers like blacksmith etc... then wolfpack which I actually use ad peasants and workers. We need elves Quote
Tycho McKorley Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I think I'll opt in here for the Vikings line and the Forestmen. Both of those were classics that really added to the general Castle line of sets. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 (edited) That's a great and very interesting topic, ThatGuyWithTheBricks! But to find the one best theme is really hard. Nevertheless I found my favourite: Western  Next to Western there are the Lion Knights, the Forestmen, the blue and green Dragon Knights and the Bat Knights. Stiel Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I loved the Black Falcons a lot. Those blue-black colors looked awesome! From recent themes, the scorpions from KKII come close, and possibly the new green-black dragons. Quote
Brig. Brick Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I loved the Black Falcons a lot. Those blue-black colors looked awesome! You've read my mind Quote
SirWacky Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Western and black knights Kingdoms is pretty darn cool too though! Quote
fenrir Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 mmmm I think Black knights have the best sets. But I think Viking is the best subtheme, something complete different from what TLG released before. Quote
ANT Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Forestmen & Black Falcons for me too About Vikings, IMO the problem was the Bionicle-ish monsters, not my thing Quote
