This may seem a pretty absurd topic, but I was wondering if anyone else has injured themself building Lego? I was building a new set recently, and while I was trying to push a particular part on (just a 2x2 45 degree slope), my hand slipped and one of my fingers caught on the corner of a brick, leaving a nasty gouge that needed a sticking plaster for a bit! I don't really have any memory of any sort of injury before, but I imagine some other injuries are possible, such as stepping on a brick in bare feet (probably more when people were kids and left bricks out on the floor).

So, have you any injuries to report? Breaking fingernails or sore fingertips from disassembling doesn't count! :)

I sometimes use a hobby knife to separate uncooperative pieces (like two 2x1 tiles), so, yeah. Nothing life-threatening yet.

A few months ago, I was making some adjustments to my 5580 Highway Rig and accidentally knocked it off the shelf it was sitting on. I caught it before it hit the ground, but the corner of some brick made a decent cut in my finger.

When I was little I used to put a lot of Lego in my mouth. One day I inhailed a pirate hat feather and almost choked in it, my parents managed to get it out. No harm of it afterwards, just a good lesson.

I once had this huge lego wheel on the floor of my room. I came in and tripped over it, scraping my chest straight across my wooden bed and leaving a scar. It is faint now but you can still see where I hit the bed.

As well as this there has been many cuts to my fingers as well as one big cut on my knee.

My rooms a mess, so the occasion cut or bruise from stepping on Lego isn't uncommon. XD

Other then that, nothing abnormal, unless you count swallowing a stud, tasty.

Other than the normal Step-on-LEGO-yell-'Ouch!'-and whack your-head-on-furniture, I've drawn blood twice, both when I was to lazy to grab a brick separator to separate a pair of plates and pulled a fingernail partially off it's base.

Were you 3 or younger?

I've put LEGO in my mouth once - the head of my Assaj Ventress 'fig was stuck and I ended up pulling it out with my teeth. Assaj now has a 3D scar on her face. :hmpf_bad:

I hurt my foot (sort of, not too bad though) while I was not paying attention to where I put my STUGIII and almost broke it with my massive foot. The reason it hurt was cause it was sort of jagged, it was only like ten seconds of a sharp pain.

I get mostly broken or chipped nails from separating stuck plates. I hurt my foot from time to time when I go into my son's room. I wonder if he does it on purpose to keep the parents out. :classic:

After picking up my UCS ISD from the post office, I decided to take it down to my basement to assemble it. While carrying the box down the stairs into the basement, I lost my footing and went sliding the down last 6 or so steps. I felt a very sharp pain in one of my toes, but I was too excited about building the Star Destroyer to worry much about my foot. Over the course of two days while building the ship, I noticed my toe getting progressively more bruised until it was completely black. Sometime much later I found out that I had broken the toe. Being the proud owner of the Star Destroyer more than made up for the injury though.

I've never had serious injuries caused by LEGO, but usually when I have to assemble or disassemble something very large my fingers start to hurt or I get chipped nails because some parts are too hard to separate or quite sharp.

No serious LEGO-related injuries yet but there have been minor ones like:

- mostly chipped finger nails when detaching hard parts

- lower back pain after several hours of MOCing/MODding, building

- headache due to lack sleep after countless hours of bricking

Yes, I too have experienced the ( sometimes painfully ) chipped and split nails from separating stubborn bricks, and a couple of cuts on the backs of my fingers when the nails gave way and the corner of a block got me. Guess I should stop being cheap and get a proper brick separator or two

Haha, Same here, I'm as cheap as Mr.Krabs.. default_laugh_new.gif I should purchase a couple of brick separator, as I use, as alternative means: a) a needle (?) b) my fingernails , and c) my teeth (ouch!)

Yes I have recieved injuries. One from punching a model that wouldn't fit together, Nearly broke my knuckles. One from the Republic Gunship falling off my wobbly shelf onto my head, It hurt quite a bit but luckily I didn't swear that time! And many back aches and arm aches from awkward positions building the HMS Unicorn in a small space given by my parents. And of course, I've experianced the old chipped nails, cut skin e.t.c. DIY is safer than Lego building!

Sometimes when I build large Lego models (e.g. the PF Bulldozer), my fingers get red and sore!

One day, when I was working on something, I accidentally kneeled down on a Technic 24 tooth gear and it cut my right-hand knee! It bled a bit but it was soon bandaged! But the blood stained gear was bent and had to be thrown away!
