newwavejunkie Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Hello everyone! My name is John. I've been on these forums for a couple of years now, though this is my first post. I'm 28 years old from San Antonio, TX. I've been a huge Lego fan since about 1986 and have been collecting Lego pretty consistently throughout my life. I had a brief dark age from about 1994-1999 (Dragon Masters put me into it, Star Wars brought me out). My favorite themes are Castle, Pirates, City, and Indiana Jones, though I have plenty of sets from many different themes. Among my favorite sets of all time are Medieval Market Village, Cafe Corner, Green Grocer, Black Falcon's Fortress, Camouflaged Outpost...and well, too many more to name. I'm hoping to become more active on the boards, so greetings to everyone! Quote

newwavejunkie Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 Pirates were probably my favorite as a kid. I remember seeing a TV version of Treasure Island with Charlton Heston when I was about 9 that really got me into pirates. Unfortunately, I never had any of the ships as a kid (the largest set I ever owned was Forbidden Island). But that never deterred me. I used to build my own ships (mostly out of castle wall panels ). Around the time I came out of my dark age, I placed a bid on one of the smaller ships on the old Yahoo Auctions website (either Cross Bone Clipper or Renegade Runner). After I won the auction, the seller told me he had actually put the wrong ship up for auction. I wound up getting a Caribbean Clipper instead and for a really great deal!! These days Pirates tend to take a backseat to Castle and the modular City sets, but I still collected quite a few of the smaller Pirate sets from the 2009 line. I'm hoping to pick up an Imperial Flagship in the next couple of months. That set is gorgeousness and gorgeosity made flesh! Quote
