KurttKrueger Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Greetings folks, Having never submitted a vignette to this forum before, I decided to have a go at creating a simple scene for my current theme of choice, Space Police. Let me know what you think. Having cut a swathe of distruction and murder across the galaxy, the Skull Twins are finally brought to justice. Cornered by Space Police Commandos with nowhere to run, the surviving Skull Twin makes one final death or glory assault on the Space Police Officers... Weathering the onslaught of blaster fire behind their downed speeder, the Space Police Commandos attempt to bring down the frenzied Skull Twin: INCOMING! As I said, this is my first ever vignette, so let me know what you think. Cheers, Dan Quote
Rocketbilly Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Very nice work! I like this vignette, especially how the twin appears to be diving forwards whilst firing, that's a great touch, and I like how you've used the new laser gun but also kept it consistent with the theme by using the trans studs on the end. I also really like the blood effect pouring out of the not so lucky twins helmet - I myself would have used a different colour for the blood, maybe trans neon green - it's an alien, after all, so why not? Though of course red makes it that much more realisitic. Great work! I'm still waiting for the sets to appear here in the UK since I too got an email from Lego confirming that they'll be available, have you had any luck yet? Will/rocketbilly Quote

Will/rocketbilly Thanks for the positive comments Will, much appreciated! I did think about an alternative blood colour, but reasoned that the inside of their mouths is red, so the blood might be also. Funny you should mention SP3 availability in the UK, I have *just* received the following email from Lego Direct: Dear Daniel,Thank you for contacting us on 14/06/10 and for your interest in LEGO® brand products. The item you are looking for is sold exclusively through our Shop at Home Service and is not available at retail stores. For information or to place an order, please visit www.Shop.LEGO.com or call us directly at 1-800-453-4652. Thank you again for contacting us. Sir Gecko Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Yeah, I like this as well. Except for the dead Twin, should be the Dead Space Police. Oh well, Very nice job. Keep up the good work. Quote

I recieved this not too long ago: "Dear William, Thanks for getting in touch with us. i just spoke to our expert for the Space Police range and he told me that those sets are available in normal shops as well and are not exclusive to us. LEGO toys are also sold through loads of different shops: toy supermarkets, speciality shops, national chains, department stores, catalogues and our Brand Retail Stores (they're the official LEGO shops). Unfortunately I cannot tell you exactly which shops have the sets you need but i hope you will be able to complete your collection. Thanks again for getting in touch. Happy building! Carolyn Voss LEGO Direct" I seem to recall you mentioning you got something similar in a thread not too long back, too (at least I think it was you) I wonder what it is, then? will we or wont we get them? ooohh the suspense. I just sent an email to Dominoe's toys asking if they'd be getting some in stock soon, so maybe that will help clarify. Will/Rocketbilly Quote
legitimatealex Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I think it goes without saying that the bloodied skull mask is the best part. Maybe it doesn't but for me its just the best. Good vignette. Only thing I'm confused about is the generic smiley face that one space policeman has on. I'd be worried if my fugitive was charging at me. Quote

It's also a female face with a scared expression on the reverse. May have to reshoot that one with the appropriate expression. Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 AWESOME just AWESOME and those new ray guns look much better than those 1970's ray guns - like for those collectable minifigs eh ? Great shot of the bad guy in flight guns a blazing ! Nice job there 'KurttKrueger' and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Not bad for your first vig Dan. Simple yet effective. Two things I love about this vig: - The forward thrust/jump of the skull twin reminds me of Matrix - I also love the blood effect on the dead skull twin, very realistic. Quote
