Trango Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 I've just bought my first set of baseplates (two 32x32 green baseplates) ever since I left my Dark Ages. I was quite surprised to see that the minifigures don't stick well to the studs of these baseplates. I tried to attach both new minifigures and old minifigures to the plates but they don't stick, they feel all lose, and just trip over. All minifigures snap well onto any other (older) baseplates or other structures and stand firmly. Did something change overtime, am I overlooking something, or is this a bad production batch? The sticker read made in Austria - not sure whether that's relevant. Should I contact LEGO customer service? Looking forward to your advise. Quote
Pirate Pete Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I've had that happen to me too. what I suggest doing is laying down green plates so that they cover the entire baseplate. this will allow minifigures and other things to stick, while still keeping the green color. hope that helped! Quote
brickzone Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I suspect it is deliberate. It used to be very hard to lift plates in particular off baseboards. Quote

willy_poodle Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 I was just going to make a topic about that, but found this one. It's very bad, the minifigs fall over everytime you move it. It's better to be too tight than too loose - you can always use the separator for the plates. Quote
Trango Posted June 13, 2010 Author Posted June 13, 2010 It's very bad, the minifigs fall over everytime you move it. That's my problem too. Of course I can cover the baseplate with bricks and plates to make it more tight, but I actually bought the baseplates to put my "army" on. Somewhat disappointing that it's so lose. Again, I wonder whether that's a production error or done on purpose. Any final thoughts? Quote
Front Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 You should surely be able to place minifigures on a baseplate and it should stay in place. I just tried a white baseplate and a minifigure, and I can shake the plate quite wildly while holding it up-side-down, and the minifigure stays in place. Try it with different minifigures. If the result is always the same, it is surely the plate that is not within required dimensions. Whenever something is not as you would expect, you could use costumer service on www.lego.com They are there for you. Quote

Moving the baseplate is sufficient to make 'em drop. Holding it upside down would be suicide :-). Quote
Front Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 If you bought the baseplates from new, and the minifigures fall if you move it, I'm pretty sure costumer service will send you new ones. Quote
AndyC Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 I just took a random new baseplate and random minifig, was able to clip him on and wobble the baseplate upside down with him remaining very much attached. Your description sounds like a faulty baseplate (or there is something wrong with you minifig of course!) Quote
blueandwhite Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 What minifigs are you looking to attach? Some of the newer figs (certainly the collector's series figs) are considerably loser when standing on plates or baseplates. When you combine a newer minifig with a new baseplate the combination isn't very pretty. Still, customer service is probably your best bet. This is an issue that they should address. Quote
Trango Posted June 14, 2010 Author Posted June 14, 2010 The new Kingdoms line initially (not the battle packs but the higher quality regular boxes) and two new baseplates. But I tested with older minifigs and had the same issue. And using the Kingdoms minifigs on older baseplates did work very well. So the issue is narrowed down to the baseplates, and I wanted to know whether this was "the new design" for baseplates, or a faulty batch. Sounds like it's a production fault. Quote
RileyC Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I only have this problem with one of the corners on mine. It is annoying but if there only going to be displayed then I suppose they wont get moved a lot. Quote
