AllanSmith Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 (edited) Hot rodder: I was not speeding officer. Policeman: This is a ticket for no tail lights! Many years ago I built 2 hot rods from the American Graffitti movie. A Ford Coupe and 55 Chevy I always thought that they were too large for minifig scale so after seeing Ralphs fantastic hotrod I made a similar one to his. My one is 4 wide and does not using any tricky build apart from the front mudguards which are 5 wide. Alternate engine Front mudguards are 5 wide Enjoy Edited June 5, 2010 by TheBrickster Quote
Milan Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Back section is very good. However, I feel like front part is somehow wrong. I think that front wheels should go 1 stud further to the front of the car. Quote
gotoAndLego Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Try removing the front mudguards and exposing the front wheels. Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 I won't be picky on this one 'Allan' it's really COOL with option to change engines, etc. Black is very nice, I'm impressed with this car - I'm a conformist! ! Quote
AllanSmith Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 Back section is very good. However, I feel like front part is somehow wrong. I think that front wheels should go 1 stud further to the front of the car. After looking at Ralph's hot rod and William Howard's instructions I was 1 stud short in the wheelbase. I have changed my hot rod to have the same wheelbase. I have also changed how the front mudguards are attached. It uses a plate with horizontal clip. The hot rod does not use any jumper plates now. Capt. Stabbin Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 This is a sweet hot rod IMO. I can just picture it going down the road at 90mph, or burning rubber on the asphalt! Great job! Quote
-zenn Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Now you've changed the front I like it. Very well done Quote
Ralph_S Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Nice work. V2 looks a lot nicer than v1 and that already wasn't bad Cheers, Ralph Quote
gotoAndLego Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I quite like the one without the engine part. What about four 1x1 rounds on top to represent velocity stacks? Quote
Milan Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Now its much better. Black suits the car very good. If it only has a flames!!! Quote
AllanSmith Posted June 27, 2010 Author Posted June 27, 2010 A variation on my black hotrod. Loosely based on a T Bucket hotrod. View of updated engine in black hotrod Enjoy Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Those hot-rods are amazing, the black is really cool - very classic-looking indeed. And I like the 5 stud-wide mud guard - very cleverly buit. Quote
