Emperor Claudius Rome Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 A project idea I have had for a while. It is going to be a battle between the Templars and Hospitalliers and the Muslims. The MOC is going to be on a grey baseplate, by for now, here are some of the figures. (they too, are still WIPs.) The Templars I have made so far. I need a lot more to complete them. My Hospitalliers. I'm satisfied with the amount, but a few need the new great helms. A few of my Muslim warriors. I need some more PoP sets for these guys. A Muslim civilian. I need more. Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Looks very interesting. I'll enjoy watching it progress. Quote
prateek Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Looks very interesting. I'll enjoy watching it progress. Ditto. I always thought those helmets would be good for Crusaders Quote
Chewk Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 (edited) The idea sounds great, but the figs don't really resemble the factions you mentioned. Templars should have white surcoats with a red cross on it, with grey arms to represent chain mail (plate armor wasn't really prevalent until the late 1400s). However, the torsos you have now would work great for generic crusaders. As for the Hospitaliers, the same idea applies, only with a black surcoat and white cross. I also think the Crownie torsos would work well as Jerusalem knights. I would suggest using the checkered pattern torsos only. Here are reference images: As for the Islam forces, I would suggest putting a tiny-turbos tire on a viking helmet, as it is much cheaper (and probably a little more accurate) than getting persian helmets in bulk. This is what I mean (center): If you aren't a stickler for historical accuracy, however, I would at least go for some sort of uniformity among the figs. It doesn't seem like you have a ton for either faction, so uniformity will go a long way. Good luck; I hope you take my suggestions into account. Edited June 2, 2010 by Chewk Quote
General Redwater Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 This looks like a good idea, I can`t wait to see the updates. A few of my Muslim warriors. I need some more PoP sets for these guys. The only thing I would change is the second Muslim warrior's shield to a printed one, like the third Muslim warrior. Good luck. - General Redwater Quote
Emperor Claudius Rome Posted June 3, 2010 Author Posted June 3, 2010 (edited) An update on the figs My civilian update. I'm satisfied by the amount as the main attraction of the battle are the soldiers. From left to right: A lowly vendor, a rich nobleman, an Imam, and the Nobel mans wife. I've added two more Islamic Warriors to there forces. Edited June 3, 2010 by Emperor Claudius Rome Quote
General Redwater Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 They look much better! The shields have really improved. Great job! - General Redwater Quote
Emperor Claudius Rome Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 Update: I've gone to working on the MoC its self. The vendors shop is destroyed by a trebuchet missile. Two Muslims and two French Crusaders face each other. One Crusader prepares to rape a woman while another kills her husband. An Imam shouts blasphemies at an English Crusader, while the Crusader watches in amusement. Quote
prateek Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Looking good so far. I can't wait for the rest. One Crusader prepares to rape a woman while another kills her husband. This has to be the most awkward sentence ever. Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Looking good 'Emperor Claudius Rome' - can't wait to see this get bigger and bigger ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Emperor Claudius Rome Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 Thanks for the praise guys. This has to be the most awkward sentence ever. Well, it's the truth. I'm sure this is what crusader who weren't in any of the orders did. Quote
General Redwater Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Great job so far! I can't wait to see how it turns out. Good luck on the battle. - General Redwater Quote
