Customizing lego magnaguard

How do I carve the official lego magnaguard.

I'm wanting to carve the cape off and make a "capeless" magnaguard

How do you cut and make a smooth finish and remove all the tan parts.

Also, is there any good silver paint? I want to paint silver magnaguards

What tools will make it look the most professional?

My goal is to make it look as close to looking an official lego product as possible.
