DanMov Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Heyho, I'm new here, come from Germany and this is my first Post and Moc for the Bayonets at Dawn Contest. Enjoy! It's a szene from the Battle of Waterloo, the fight for La Haye Sainte. The fight shows the attack of French troops against the walled farmhouse. The project is not finished yet, the position of the French artillery is still under construction. More Pictures will follow. Brickshelf MocPages Quote
Joey Lock Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Its amazing, I was watching a documentary of this specific part of the battle just yesterday! The Farm was only held by a few hundred men of the German Legion. And as said by Napoleon "Le Centre est la clé". Didn't work out too well though... I love the giant path! Quote
michaelozzie Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Great work on this moc. The building layout is very exact to what they are. Cant wait to see the finished work Quote
Captain Becker Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 come to Eurobricks and CP.com, i like your entry so far, its HUGE at least and im waiting a lot of this project. Keep it up Captain Becker Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted May 21, 2010 Eurobricks Emperor Posted May 21, 2010 This looks great Since you live in German, have you visited La Haye Sainte? It still exists and looks just like it was in 1815. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Looking good so far You have a nice (rather) big army and enough bricks for a large and interesting MOC. I also like your buildings. There's still too much empty space in it IMO but it's still a WIP so I guess you will add some more stuff later. Good luck, keep it up! Quote
Capt. Stabbin Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Wow, this is massive!! Looks great, I love the farmhouse, all the details are amazing. I'm sure it will be a real work of art once finished!! Good luck in the contest! Quote
Kerntechniker Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Great. Just great your MOC. Tomorrow i musst hurry with MOC for the contest, but yours really impressive and a source of inspiration. From which part in Germany your're from? I would like to see the front of the french regulars and i'm missing the rifles of the KGL, i'm still rembering that the KGL wasn't armed with musket. Quote
BrickPerfection Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Can't figure out why I failed to comment on this before - it's a great scenery, and huge! Looks pretty much like minifig scale! As others have stated already some details, esspecially in the lanscaping (vegetation, colour diversity) are still lacking and the deadline comes closer every single day; I hope you can improve in these areas since I'd really love to vote on such a massive entry! However I can't if it will still look as sterile as it is now... Quote
Aalak Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Just came back from a weekend trip and saw this huge entry. I love the way you recreated La Haye Sainte, especially with the impact in the main house and the barn. It looks great. I hope you can fill it up with some more Minifigs in action! It would be quite cool. Can't wait for the final entry. It seems that the competition is getting "bigger" :) Keep it up! Quote
SlyOwl Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Excellent scene, I look forwards to its completion. Nice expansion of the wall technique into the arch. I considered doing a similar thing using printed tiles to get an ornate curved mantel. From what little I know about said battle (ie. from the description in Les Miserables), it was a chaotic, bloody affair. Lots of shrapnel, bullet holes and blood would be most welcome. What's the plan for the raised baseplate? Is that to be the hill that eventually gets a statue of a lion on it? Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 That is ginormously splentacular! It even has authentic battle damage. This very cool because you didn't try to fill in every space with something and so the scale is terrific. Very cool to see! Quote
DanMov Posted May 24, 2010 Author Posted May 24, 2010 Heyho, Thanks for the comments and the praise! @Bonaparte, Unfortunately not yet, but I will visit it. @Kerntechniker, I'm from Baden-Württemberg near Basel. Sry but I have no Guns for the KGL @Perfectionist, I do not have enough time and maybe not enough bricks available, but I'll try to make it better. @SlyOwl, mhh k I will look to integrate this into the Battle. no on the baseplate is a small outposts @Topic It will come even more soldiers, and a little more action but the time is short. The new images show the position of the French artillery. [WIP] More pictures follow tomorrow! Quote
Kerntechniker Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 (edited) Nice, very nice. The artellerie is still a very good add-on for the battle, but i still think the french regulars standard attack was a colonette of three lines. For pimping your MOC in a final version I would put an eagle standard and Tricolor-flag to the french and the Union Jack or the KGL flag to the british/KGL's. Overall a very good Moc, i like it. Erdbeereis Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Welcome to the website Danmov! Lovely MOC, the sheer size of it is very impressive. Quote
